Cache Cleaners

I've been using this for a while: App Cache Cleaner - Android app on AppBrain and it works well. I recently rooted and just tried: CacheCleaner NG - Android app on AppBrain thinking being "rooted" it might do a better job.

I ran the apps list with both, and the basic difference is NG picks up app cache on the SD card, but I don't want to clean Maps on SD, and that's the only one with significant cache. App Cache Cleaner works about 20 times faster than NG, so I'm sticking with it. Any reason to clean SD cache? (other than Maps, it's only about 5mb)

You can exclude MAPS from the cache cleaning process w/CACHE CLEANER NG.Take another look in the settings & de-select the quick clean(old style) method.Doing this should then open up the option of choosing which apps you want cleaned.

Yes, I saw that. I was just saying that Maps cache on SD doesn't show up in App Cache Cleaner, (or can be deselected in the other). Not a problem deselecting, but why use an app that's soooo slooooowwww, when the other seems to clean just as well and MUCH faster (like 5 seconds compared to 2 minutes).

I cleaned with App Cache cleaner (5 seconds), then I ran NG. All internal cache was zero; there was 1-3mb in Gallery and QuickPic (ext), and about 40mb in Maps (ext). IMO I don't really need the SD card cache cleaned, since I want to leave Maps untouched anyway.

Depending on phone model & class/capacity of the SDcard,I imagine SD cache may not be much of an issue.
I just prefer the choice & customizing of which app+which cache(internal or SD)is cleaned.
Cleaning cache as thoroughly as possible definitely makes a substantial impact on performance in low end smartphones,at least that's the case w/my CM7 ASCEND.

On the higher end of the smartphone spectrum,a good friend of mine has the T-MOBILE G2X,(stock-unrooted),& uses it all day long & hasn't found a need for a cache cleaner or,not once went into the APPLICATIONS section to clear cache ever, not even once,& the phone runs smooth as silk.
So,I imagine,it's what works best for the individual,as that is the case w/most things ANDROID,it's what makes this O/S the best out there.
