Pure music widget

The widget looks great. Haven't seen any errors yet, but I'm not getting album covers on any songs, even though they are there in the stock browser. Running 100b4 on Moto Droid.

you really should do that. it's what the stock player uses. i delete all image files from my music folders because they clog up the image gallery since it displays all images that are on the sd card.

I already put the code in my app this morning to do that.
I hope I'll be able to publish an update this evening.
 
Did you receive my last logcat (Subj: Android device log - SenseUI f/c) okay? It was captured after a clean install of Beta3 on my Hero.

Yes, I saw an exception due to HTC modified music player.

In fact, I don't have HTC Sense device to test my app. Can you send me the APK of the music player of your device ? (if you are root, it will be easy).
I should be able to find in the APK the good door to launch the HTC app on the good page.

Oh ! and after a force close, this is normal that nothing works (the service is dead).

Btw, the Play/Skip controls don't work at all on my handset. Not even straight away after a reboot.

would be cool for a square widget (4x4) to have the album art as the entire widget background, probably with a semi-transparent layer on top to help buttons etc. visibility (crude example attached)

not sure if a skin can do this (?)

Yes, I can, and it is already in my TODO list (look a first post) ;)
 
well the 4x4 widget is on the todo list, i didn't know making a skin like that was possible
 
I have re-installed and rebooted and still having the following problem:
when I click the center button/text it brings me to the same cd every time (jay-z, if you need 2 know). i then click on the menu button and go to my library, select something different and push play. after exiting out the widget still shows jay-z and I can play it and there are now 2 songs playing at once.
also no album art showing. -motorola droid

Are you using the stock player ? are you sure you didn't install the 2.1 player over the stock 2.0.1 for example ? (I did that mistake at first, I had 2.1 and 2.0.1 players installed).

For album cover, are they available in JPG/PNG format ? did you read my previous post saying that it doesn't read ID TAGs yet ???
 
ok I figured it out. The pure widget opens the stock music player When I was going to my library it was using the 2.1 music app i have ported onto 2.0.1. I just cleared the defaults. Is there a way we can get the widget to open a specific music app by default?

No, I don't think so.
I can interact only with the default media player installed, not with custom versions.
And for sure, I won't be able to interact with any other player.
 
Installed the b5 and it fixed the album art. So far so good! I enjoy using your apps, keep up the good work!

Motorola Droid running Bugless Beast [950MHz & Wifi] V0.7.2 (2/1/10)

How about a skin that matches Pete's Bugless Beast theme!
 
don't know if you care to hear about the eris at this time but widget shows up and displays album/artist/song text but no album covers and controls don't control music. click on text brings you to stock music player though and if you play there and go back to widget then it reflects playing icon. I am not a developer yet but hope to be fairly soon so not sure how much help i can be w beta but will do whatever i can. I love your pure cal widget and have sent many to get it. Great work!

Now we just need someone to make a truly good media player! The stock one lacks sooo much. Fast forward, bookmarking, ability to map hard buttons to actions (although im fairly sure that requires rooting).

Yep, this works great with Pete's ROM that uses the Milestone music player!

Also, I noticed that if you take the default skin and bring it up to about 20-25% transparency, it looks pretty integrated with the smoked glass theme of the beast.

Thank you veery much for this report.

I'll have to find a solution for HTC Sense devices.
I think it should read cover with b5, even on Sense.
But for buttons, that is most problematic. I'll try to find a solution.
