Trade-In Deals or Other Promos...?

I wounder if Sprint will offer any sort of trade-in deals for folks with higher-end phones who aren't up for their regular 2-year upgrade yet...hope so!

If not, I'm thinking places like Radio Shack are more apt to run specials like that?

That's what I would like to know. My upgrade aint till 2012. But if I don't hear anything about the next Nexus in the coming weeks, I just might give in and get the Epic Touch.

I would like to know why I have called several Sprint stores and they are all still clueless, no release date known, no off contract price known, can't leave a deposit, don't even know what I'm talking about!!!!

And the release is in just over two weeks.

That is odd. I read on Android Central that theyd be taking pre orders right away.

If i do decide to try and grab one of these, it's looking like we could be staring down the same kind of fiasco as when I got my evo within a month of its launch.

Pre ordered mine this morning at the nearby corporate store. Two local Best Buy stores had nothing about it on their syste.

Yep just got back from the Sprint store. They had no clue of this phone. I showed them via their website that they should be taking pre-orders but they couldn't find the password for the system that takes pre-orders. I was told they rarely use the system and it was usually reserved for "major launches". I walked out.

For major launches, there are usually a memo that is sent out to all employees instructing them that this device is a major launch and on how to take preorders and stuff like that.

Apparently the SGS2 is not considered a major launch for Sprint...unlike the EVO 3D and the Motorola Photon.

Upgrades don't reset. You need to leave and come back 45 days later. May only work if you have mulitple lines and try to do some musical chairs with them.

I get that upgrades are based on time, not contracts. Assuming one can use this loophole to get off their contract but stay on sprint month to month, they could just get the full discount on the phone with a new plan, no?

Info came out yesterday - give it more than a day before tossing your hands up in disgust.

Samsung is lazy, they wait until two weeks prior to the launch to release any info which is already after they are behind the 8-ball having many potential customers locked into contracts on Photon's, EVO 3D's etc.

You would think they have learned their lesson from failures like the EPIC.

Nope the upgrade date never changes. You can sign a new two year contract but he system will still show that you are not eligible for the upgrade price or new customer price yet. You can go to sprintusers.com as they have a few Sprint employees over there that will tell you the same thing. Of course there are times when there is glitches in the system or the Sprint employee enter some wrong info that may reset you upgrades earlier.

Basically this is great if you are willing to port out and back in later. You have multiple lines and port out some lines and sign up new contracts. You want to leave but haven't made up your mind yet (month to month).

Of course you should try it yourself. You might get a sympathetic employee.

they know how to do it. phone was announced 310 pt. I walked into a local sprint store at 420 pt. and had my pre-order. they just have to look it up.

I like radio shack but their trade in deals are pretty poor. Sprint buy back at for evo 4g (my phone) at evo 3d was $150, and I just checked, its currently $125 (pretty good for 3 months later). If you sign it now you have 45 days to return your evo 4g so its basically "locked in" @ $125 buy back by the time you got the SGS2 and then some. You could try ebaying your phone depending on what you have, and ebay is almost always a better route financially, but YMMV and its a hassle depending on your buyer, of course.

If I go with the SGS 2 (99% sure) i'll prolly just go the easy route and sell my evo back to sprint. $215 (w/tax) - $125 = $90 for 2.5x faster is a pretty good deal. Just a new contract :(

You turning in your evo or evo3d? If your returning your 3D I would sell it on craigslist. You can get ALOT more than 125 for it.

On wirefly, if I select upgrade a line on my family plan, they will give me the phone for $150. Can I extend my contract another 2 years even though I am at my 1 year mark? I wouldn't mind sticking around fr two more years.

Thanks.
