I received the update, downloaded it and got stuck on reboot. After 45 minutes I battery pulled, now it says system is up to date sub software 2.2. Help.

I currently have the DInc2, but have turned my DInc1 on and connected via wifi. Will it receive the update or does it need to have an active subscription to Verizon to get it?

Man damn. So I have been lurking for the last few months prior to this update. Anyway, I knew it might be a mess. God I remember the froyo saga.

Anyway, so I just got the OTA and installed. At first it got stuck at the droid eye. SO I did a factory reset. Still getting stuck. Anyone else having this issue?

Well, the OTA worked without a problem. Phone says v 2.3.4. The home screens and widgets were there and working. But, I have to reinstall many (all?) of my purchased apps.

BTW -- I do not know how to tell what version of Sense is running. But, some of the widgets seem more animated. For example, the home page clock actually clearly shows the numbers flipping.

OK -- I cannot tell which apps need to be installed and which ones do not.

It seems that some free apps, which require logins to synchronize, need to be reinstalled -- such as Opentable and Urbanspoon. But, once reinstalled, they remember the login information and work as they did before.

Some paid apps do work without reinstalling.

So, expect a little time trying to remember what is missing. So far, no data has been lost.

Ahhh .... I discovered the pattern ...

All the apps that I moved to the SD card need to be reinstalled. Once reinstalled, they remember.

Got the OTA message early this morning. Tried to install it, but it just sat there stuck on rebooting phone... (even though the phone wasn't really rebooting). I'm rooted using unrevoked3, with the stock ROM.

Not a big deal, because I'm thinking about installing a custom ROM anyway, but I just thought I would share my experience.

you can not install the ota if you still have a custom recovery (clockwork recovery)

Got mine in Knoxville, TN this morning. Really wish I had read this thread about the missing apps before I updated, but oh well. I hadn't been around lately and didn't even know a new update was on the way...

I was really hoping the next update would address the infuriating "low space" warning that makes my eye twitch and makes me consider switching to iPhone every few weeks or so. But soon after I updated, there was my old nemesis again. Hooray.

I awoke this morning at 7am and had the notification on my phone. The download and upgrade went well. I don,t see any apps missing or changed. My phone does feel faster and respond better. I had moved all my apps to the phone last night after reading the posts here. (thanks to all of you who do what you do ) Going to try to move apps back to sd card later today

My 3g isnt working. I have already factory reset. Reboot does no good. Not sure what to do next. I think I have to be on data connection to get my backup assistant to work as well, which kinda sucks. Any ideas?

Update arrived in the Baltimore area overnight. Area code 443. Saw several comments about hanging up at the "Eye".
Mine hung there for about 10 minutes, then finished with no action on my part.
Everything looks good so far.

Maybe it has something to do with when you activated your phone that determines the update process. I didn't get mine until last thanksgiving. Unless someone else who bought their phone then already got it.

Is there a feature list of how this update is supposed to be different? I don't see one on the board anywhere. The only difference I've noticed is slightly different icons and my SD card apps are missing.

Phone woke me up this morning then about 10 minutes later said "You can haz UPdate!" I hit the DU IT button, and 12 minutes later I am eating Gingerbread for breakfast. My parents never let me eat candy for breakfast!! :D

No update for me. :( Although a friend did and he had problems with missing apps.

I really wonder what criteria VZW uses for who gets OTA updates. Seniority doesn't count because I've been with them for around 10 years. Date of purchase doesn't count. Data usage don't count. The size of my bill doesn't count. The number of posts on this forum don't count.

And I doubt it's "random". The general public doesn't really understand the true definition of random, and it doesn't matter if the pattern is imperceptible to a 2nd party.

AHHHH

I woke up to get the update. Installed in 10 minutes or so. But I can't use it. I am stuck in this Sense Force Close Loop.

I've taken the SD Card out and will probably try a factory reset. F***ing phone :mad::mad:

To answer my own question, found a feature list here:

Hmm... none of that appears to really benefit me that much. So I basically just got rid of a bunch of apps. Awesome.

My wife and I have identical phones, bought and activated together.
I got the update overnight, she did not.
