Official Release Date Rumor Thread

Picked mine up at Best Buy this morning (10AM). I was the only person there for one. In the BBuy parking lot, I paired Bluetooth to my car radio and had the phone navigate me home. I thought it did a great job and I love the satellite view in the Google Navigation. I purposely went home a different way than it wanted me to so I could see how quickly it noticed I was off course and could re-route. Within a few seconds it picked me up and rerouted (I tried this three times). I couldn't tell any difference between it and the GPS from my iPHone 4. I use a vent mount so the phone sits about even with the top of the dash and can "see" pretty well out the front window towards the sky.

I am enjoying the heck out of it and the voice commands/navigation/texting..... I put it in the driving mode and gave it the "hey galaxy". Worked great. Love it.

This is my first android phone. When you are at your house how do you know when you are using your wifi vs your data plan. TIA

Did anyone order a case yet? Just noticed tpu-cases has them in stock now.

How are TPU-Cases? Is there any sort of foam insert to protect the phone from impact? I'm 6'4" and drop my phone on a daily basis (long ways for the phone to fall), so I WAS going to wait for the Ottterbox, but those guys take forever with making cases. Also, how's the screen protector that comes with the TPU-Case? High quality? Not expecting much for $9.00, but I could be wrong with my lack of knowledge!

Will it protect the phone from a 6' drop....probably not. But Tpu cases are fairly good for every day use.

As for the screen protector, I have no clue. I heard they are fine if you can manage to put it on without any bubbles.

Grab your notification bar and drag it down. You'll see an icon for Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS, etc. Highlighted means it is on. But that will stay that way even if you're not connected (like if you're just driving down the road..all you have done is TELL it to look for wifi). There is an indicator in your notification bar that will change from whatever the data connection icon looks like, to the wifi connected icon. Should be right next to your cell signal.

Hope that makes sense.

Im jealous, i have to wait till my brothers "authorized retailer" ATT store gets it.....and well, they never get stuff right away....so more patience, more patience.

I finally discovered the secret to installing screen protectors. Personally, I tend to like the slippery crystal clear kind (rather than the rubbery matte style), because I want a super clear display and a glass-like surface against my fingers, and I'm willing to put up with the reflection/glare/fingerprint issues as a trade-off. However, this type of screen protector is typically a "dry" application, and requires a perfectly dust free environment and superb dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and some luck(!) to get the protector installed perfectly aligned and bubble and dust free on the very first try. If you do get bubbles or dust, the instructions will always tell you how to deal with them, but my experience is - if you don't get it perfect the first time, forget it, you never will! That is, until I decided to ignore the directions! If you're a perfectionist like me, and will be bothered every time you look at your less than perfectly applied screen protector, then you might want to try this:

I get a small spray bottle and put some rubbing alcohol in it. Then, I spray the screen protector just the way you would with a "wet" application. This allows plenty of opportunity and time to perfectly align the protector, and then use a credit card to carefully squeegie out any bubbles. It usually take about 5 minutes to dry most of the way, and within a couple of hours (max) the protector is perfectly clear and dry. By the way, I always take the battery out of my phone when I do the application to prevent any short circuits, just in case any alcohol makes its way inside the phone, which it may through the microphone or speaker openings. Anyway, whenever I've used this method I get perfect results and I don't end up cursing like I used to when following the directions and using the dry method.

Good tip. I do that as well but use filtered or distilled water and 3 drops of baby shampoo. I would think rubbing alcohol would evaporate in seconds. Soap & water is the same juice all mail order folks (Zagg etc) use.

Called 4 stores in the Austin TX area. They arent getting the phone in this area and they can "direct order" one and I will have it in 3-4 week. All Best Buys are sold out in the area. Costco didnt get any. Sams Club doesnt have any either. Called a few WalMarts and they didnt have any or were clueless. SO frustrated right now.

Im going to be in San Diego Wednesday so I called the one closest to my employer. They had a lot. He said I could call Tuesday night and they will hold one for me until close Wednesday. Really frustrating that I have to go to another state to pick one up.

I drove to killeen :) got mine @ 11AM

Just ordered the TPU-Case to hold me over till the Otterbox Commuter comes out for it. Can't beat $9.00 for a decent case. Maybe that pink spot on the camera will get fixed by the time I get the phone :)

remrem, which screen protector (specifically) do you prefer? I can't stand the ones that are grippy. Defeats the whole purpose of that beautiful, smooth gorilla glass screen.

The At&t store had a ballistic case for 35.00. I was checking ebay a jersey dude had ballistics and outterbox 3 layer for the international and the I777 and the price was 22.50 with free shipping. I would like the outterbox 5 layer when it comes out but I am tempted to get it. I wonder how can you tell if it is a knock off?

Got mine at Best Buy this morning. The Best Buy guy even matched the $148.88 Wal-Mart price, even though they didn't have any in stock yet.

This phone ROCKS. Blazing fast, the GPS is near perfect as far as I can tell (Or as good or better than any phone I have used, including the I Phone 4) well worth the price. Though with them price matching I was able to use Reward Zone points to by the phone. I got my $50.00 I put down for pre order returned to my card. Total out of pocket was $1.88. Pretty Sweet!!!

With the 25.00 in media hub credit you are in the positive. LOL
Where was wallmarts 148.00 deal was it in the flyer? I am going to try to go back to mine to get an adjustment.

I think you are correct, the pink spot is needing the software fix that the international version just got. How long until we see it as I take a ton of pictures with my phone and yes it does show in my pictures.

I am not getting any pink spot on mine. GPS works great here as well. :D

I've already returned mine once today.....same thing for both...What gives Samsung? For those that say you aren't getting any pink spot in yours.....take a picture in low light.....I just got off the phone with two others that have the same problem. What a way to screw this up!!!
