Help Where is my Gingerbread update?

Okay, this makes no sense. I see a lot of people with a MT4G that has Gingerbread AKA, 2.3. But where do I get it? I see no firmware update on my phone. What am I missing here?

And secondly, if it requires rooting to just get it in some fancy way, I must say attempting to perma-root my phone was unsuccessful. S=on has been there all the time. :I

Just take into a T-Mobile store. They can update it for you using an SD card. Simple

It WILL wipe out any apps and data you have in the phone's memory rather than on the SD card, but that is no big deal.

My wife's phone got the update and mine did not. I used hers to take photos of the app launcher screens and backed up my data to my SD card. It was simple to see which apps were missing after the upgrade and reinstall them. Your contacts come from your Google account, so they won't be lost. The store even noticed that my phone still had a 2G SIM card and put a new one in for me.

Well, only the Tmobile Headquarters stores will actually update it for you.

Do some Google searches for "MyTouch 4G Gingerbread update"

You should be able to find the update.zip, power into the blootloader, and perform the update.

No, you do not need to root.

I took mine into a local T-Mobile store this morning (I live in San Diego... far from the headquarters), and they were able to install Gingerbread on my phone just fine.
