Google music or stock player?

Just wanting to see what most peoples opinions are on this topic. A while ago I got a google music beta and I tried it out but hated it. Recently I've been looking for ways to save space on my phone and decided to give beta a go. Again, I don't really like it...but it is saving me space.

For now I'll keep it for at least 10 days so I can give it a fair shot but I would LOVE to hear others opinions. Do you like it? Love it? Hate it? Meh?

I do use Google Music beta but only when I'm streaming my collection. Have you seen the new Google Music 4.0? They did add a few new features and updated the look of the app. I just updated yesterday and so far I like it.

The other music player I use is UberMusic with the Metro skin. Gives it a Zune look to it. I use that for the music I have on my SD card.

Well to play music on my sd card I love stock sense. I deleted all music from my phone to use google music exclusively to try and save space.

Another concern I have is battery. Does google music use more juice than playing from the sd card? I believe so since it's streaming but I have no concrete evidence.

Moved to Media forum.

Also the two things I dont like about the Google Player are

1) navigating around is a pain while driving. way too many clicks to get to stuff, buttons are too small

2) it "DRM's" * your music and does not play nice with third party music apps, especially playlists.

I have not looked to see if the new version still suffers from these problems.

*By DRM I just mean it hides it, not full DRM like a DVD has

The radios seems to be the most power hungry aspect of our mobile devices. Just compare the standby battery figure for your phone with the "talk time" figure.

An off topic question about google music, is that I assume they're using some sort of deduplication. I've heard that google maintains their own branch of the kernel for their servers, so that probably rules out ZFS. But if thousands or more upload the latest pop song, I think google would want to conserve space by only storing a single copy, right?

I use Google China Music for streaming on my PC. When I use my phone for music, the MP3s are on the SD-card. Streaming music to the phone is not really an option as WiFi is only available at home.

I use the stock music app for HTC. I hate Google Music. I don't really care about space, since I have a 16 gig card and I only put my favorite bands on my phone, then leave the rest for my iPod which I leave in my car.

Any one knows Google Music 4.0? i like google music.

Here's the article from Phandroid. Follow the source link to get the download. Also, make sure you delete the old version before you install this new one.

Don't forget the screen either. I could have my phone in flight mode but if I spend hours playing Contract Killer, that'd take down my battery too. But I agree, screen plus radios are top battery suckers.

I don't know a whole lot about the more technical aspects of Google Music but my thinking, storage wise, is that since it's still in beta and invite only they're still testing to see what they can manage before they open it. I'm sure they'll eventually have to come up with something once they start getting more users.
