Viewpad 7 Video....

Newbie
hi, i have recently been given a Viewpad 7 tablet. i have some dvd's i would like to convert and carry on it so the daughter can watch her movies etc when we travel...

i have tried a few programs, 1 click dvd converter, freemake video converter and one other to try to put my movies onto a readable format... each time i just get the meaasge that it cannot play this file on the viewpad. i have tried other players off the android market and none will play them.
i have also tried chnging the resolution to see if this will help but so far no go. it is a 800x480 screen, although i see it is also advertised as a 800x400... nothing appears to work...

anyone any clues or advice...not doing too well with this is Aldiko wont let me load any of my books either as i cant get the adobe drm verification to work...lol

atb and any help appreciated!

well after a couple of hours Handbrake has also failed to do it?! get the message 'sorry this video cannot be played' - using the movies app or the mx video player.
i use the normal mp4 format h.264 left the size at 720x576 and mp3 audio, using avg bitrate of 1000, 1.5gb file. any suggestions anyone??

Try making the file less than 1gb, or just split the file you have now in two. Some phones dont like files over 1gb.

Also try unchecked CABAC under advanced settings.

Also, how are you ripping the dvd's?

hi...i have tried files from 400mb upwards. i will have a look at the cabac setting...thanks. i am mounting the dvd iso image and then loading the files into whichever program i try to use...

This could be why, you need to rip the dvd first to remove the copy protection.

hi, the iso files i have on my laptop have already been ripped from the original dvd's that i have so i can play them on here and for my daughter. i will try again anyway but i am not sure if it will make a lot of difference.... will try anything to see if it will work!! atb

just to add some of the video files are old vhs tapes put onto dvd disc, the iso's i kept on my laptop as well so no drm on them and they dont play either??

got to add it plays youtube videos ok as well as the inbuilt camcorder files...

i have now asked on the viewsonic website support and am now being told this unit only supports 3GP???????? not what it says in most of the material that comes with the unit...

Still having problems!! Have found a 3GP setting in Freemake Video Converter that when i have tested it on small clips of the movie, about 70mb, work and play on my Viewpad. when i convert the whole film and try to play it it gives me the sorry cannot play the video message. i have split the movie down to chunks of about 200mb now and still it isnt playing them??

Another quirky issue with this Viewpad is that i am trying to put music onto it...i have transferred files over to the microsd card using the cable and by coping direct using a card reader. the files are transferred but when i try to play them it wont play them and when i look for them on the card where they were copied to they have vanished...somehow they have been removed from the card!!??
i have been able to transfer individual files but not a folder containing files?

thanks...i have found some info about an issue with some tablets as i have described with the music files, have placed a blank file entitled .nomedia in the root directory of the card and so far that has worked...no more files going missing....

still cant get any movies onto it though that will play...am onto rockplayer lite, as soon as the clip gets larger than about 70mb it just goes back to saying it cannot play the video.

have emailed viewpad support for advice again...see if they can shed any light onto the issue?
