Just thought I'd add to the speculation.... http://androidforums.com/htc-thunderbolt/430256-verizon-data-outage-10-16-2011-a.html When Verizon had a similar outage back in the late spring early summer word on the "Street" was that Verizon was having trouble with tweaking their network for an upcoming 4G device. I believe it was the Droid Charge that was released shortly after the outage. I'm predicting a new 4G device in the next 10 days.

Maybe 10/20 will turn out to be true then! :)

There's no telling. I don't recall the other 4G devices' release dates causing Verizon to do some tweaking with its 4G network which in turn caused nationwide outages but from what I remember with that initial outage, there was something about the Droid Charge that made Verizon do something to its 4G towers that took 4G down for at least a day.

Lol. Don't even get me started on the Samsung Plasma TVs we had to return last year...got one, main board failed within a week, exchanged it for another, that one had a main board failure within the following week. Needless to say, that one was replaced with a Panasonic. No Samsung anything for me in the future.

It's sad, but I'll take this one for $299. I thought that Verizon would use the Beats tech/earphones to jack the price up to $349 or more. $199 would certainly be better though. I won't get my NE2 unless I wait until the end of December. Not gonna happen.

DONT WAIT JUST CALLLLLLLL!!
I called up and said that a new phone is rumored to come out soon and i am not due for my $50 until dec 27. i have a family plan and internet and texting and etc.. and i would like to speak to a manager about getting my $50 upgraded to NOW so i dont have to wait.
ive been a loyal vzw customer for years and blah blah blah..

she said she didnt even have to get me an a manager and went ahead and changed the date for my $50. took 6 minutes.

TRY CALLING IF YOUR $50 IS DUE IN THE NEXT 2-3-4 Months. worth a try.. and it worked for me! This is the email i got.

You're not related to Billy Mays are you? :p

LOL,

Although I probably will call, I'm waiting till the phones are actually released and I decide whether I'm getting a NP or the Vigor. I'm also due on dec.28th. (original Dinc. owner). I figure the closer to the "date" I am, the more likely they are to bump it, especially if I can say "hey, you bump my date and I'll buy this "phone" right now..."

Well then maybe its a Samsung 4G thing and the Prime is about to launch.... Guess we will find out tomorrow

Thanks. Verizon gave me my NE2 discount 5 months early when I got my Dinc1. I was planning on giving it a try, but assuming that Verizon would say no since they gave me my last one early...who knows...maybe they still value long-time customers who pay their bills...

Have many people had luck with calling VZW or going to the store and talking them into giving an upgrade a bit early? I too have the 12/28 upgrade date, but the power button on my DINC is dying at an incredible pace thus making me fear that I might have to get something before I get to that date. Any thoughts on if they'd be lenient with me? I'm on a family plan w/3 lines (all smartphones) and have been a customer since 2004

When the Inc1 released, I heard that people who have been long-time customers were having success in getting their NE2's pushed up by sending email messages to customer service, and not having so much luck in asking over the phone.

I sent an email, and the following day got a reply acknowledging that I had been with Verizon since the late 1990's, and had always paid my bill on time. The email went on to tell me that my NE2 had been moved up by 5 months, and was immediately available for use.

Since that time, I've heard that Verizon has changed its policy, and no longer makes it as easy to have the NE2 advanced. That said, some people are still having luck so I say give it a try, what's the worst that can happen?

I've gotten to the point where I could care less about the name...I just want the goods. Thanks for the info; the more the merrier. And at risk if sounding stupid, what exactly is this cell-brite thing?

Cellebrite is the device that the store uses to transfer contacts and information from one phone to another. If you've ever been in a store, the Cellebrite would have been behind the counter and looked like a gray box with a black cable connecting the new and old devices to transfer information between them.

Most on this site won't need it because we just back up with Gmail, but it's nice to see official Cellebrite support for this phone.

I thought Cellebrite is a fat person's thigh/butt area when they have rosacea in that area as well... :p

For those that want to get an early upgrade, an actual Verizon wireless corporate store is going to be your best bet. If you try going through Best Buy, Wirefly.com, Amazon, etc. etc. then your chances are very slim of getting an early upgrade. If you do speak with someone at Verizon about an early upgrade, let them know that AT&T/Sprint/T-Mobile/Metro PCS/ is offering you a bonus to offset any Early Termination Fees if you leave Verizon and switch carriers. At that point they should try to get you an early upgrade or get you to the retentions department where they can get you an early upgrade. This generally works when you're a few months away from an upgrade so if you're not due for another year you can try, but don't count on an early upgrade.

I am not getting personally excited about this leak.

I remember when I got my incredible a day before launch and went into Verizon's store they did not even have it in the system.

I was switching from a BB Storm to the Inc and they had to input it as a Droid Eris.

So if they can release a phone without it being in the system I don't think it being in the system means too much.

Actually, the DINC was in the Cellebrite system prior to launch.

I remember it like it was yesterday. It was the first I had ever heard of the cellebrite(cellulite) system.

I'd imagine that Verizon probably figured not enough people bothered with the backup system and thus didn't feel the Inc needed to be in their system. If enough employees used another HTC phone listed in the system to perform a data transfer and caused enough problems then I can see Verizon trying to be better prepared.

I'm out at $299. Will reconsider when it hits $199.

I don't see it being released at $199, especially with the iPhone 4S being as successful as it's been. If anything that will give Verizon more reason to competitively price it. $299 sounds about right since that's what the TB ran when it first came out and that was the 1st 4G phone. I can't imagine Verizon pricing it much higher than that even with a "Dr. Dre endorsement".

$299 does sound about right based on this article. http://popherald.com/galaxy-nexus-nexus-prime-a-verizon-lte-phone-report/news/2011/10/15

I'm fully expecting $299. Anything lower would be shocking to me. And to be honest, I'm not devastated over the price. I'm not trying to come across like I'm wealthy, I'm not, I teach first-grade, but I'm okay with spending that much for a mini computer that has more power than my first PC at college.

While I think cheaper is better :) People tend to forget how much technology is being jammed into these phones...

I paid $249 for my i760 (with a $100 NE2 discount, AND I bought it long after it'd had come out) and my Dinc makes it look an original Ti calculator...

As much as the practical side of me wants to scream highway robbery, I would have to echo this sentiment. Plus, you must be a young-ish whipper-snapper...this phone has more power than pretty much my first 5 or so PC's put together. :D

Very good point...I'm 35, so yes, this beats my first few PCs...and I'm very young-ish at heart, haha. Got to be to keep up with these 6 year-olds. :)

Well it seems that Droid Life has found a Verizon document showing a November 10, 2011 launch date for the HTC Rezound, Galaxy Nexus and Droid HD (RAZR). It was hard to fathom 2 high-end releases at the same time, how about 3?

Here's the link:

Galaxy Nexus, DROID RAZR and HTC Rezound All Launching November 10? (Updated) - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

I didn't want to accept it, but I guess our wait until November 10 looks pretty official. On the other hand, at least Verizon isn't launching these phones one-at-a-time starting with the Nexus on November 10.
