Help Correct firmware for the UK

Gammer

Android Enthusiast
Can anyone tell me the best firmware to flashback to 2.3.3 in the uk? I've been on some Serbian one for ages and after getting an update 2.3.5 It's still not resolved my text issues even though I was assured it would on the Virgin forum.

So any help to get me back on the right track of UK firmware that I can flash with odin and then get the correct updates from Kies would be a massive help.

Hi, not sure about 2.3 but 2.2.1 is XWKA9 off samfirmware is for the UK. Then plug into kies and it'll update you. This should work fine, but if you have any difficulty as you have been on foreign firmware for a while it may not change your csc.
If this happens just dial *#272*your imei number#, this will then take you into a list where you can install the correct one for kies to recognise your phone. Mine for example was cpw for carphone warehouse.

The csc on XWKA9 is the same as what i have now which is ser, there is no other options to change it. Could I use a multi csc from another firmware when i load them up in odin?

Ok found the correct firmware with the correct uk csc but it's just one big md5 file rather than ops, boot ,phone etc etc.
Does it go into the bottom 'one package' option in odin? And do I keep it UNrooted

Any help on this would be great. Man I hate flashing but it needs to be done.

Here's instructions how to install the "one package"option with odin, but you do need the ops file aswell.Hope this helps.

Cheers fella. Thanks for the help. Just need to flash again now which I hate doing!!

Hi Gammer,

Can you let me know how you got on as might try this ROM myself.

Also, did you have to manually enter the APNs for your network or did they appear?

Cheers

Hi Brizzler, I'm not actually going to flash the 2.3.5 Rom Tommy has mentioned. I'm already on 2.3.5 but a Serbian version that was upgraded through Kies as I've been on that firmware awhile. I'm actually from the uk and looking to go back to a good working 2.3.3 with uk csc.
I just needed help in locating an ops file.
I can tell you that 2.3.5 that I'm using is fantasicly speedy and smooth but I still have problems sending texts with packet data on so I need to flash back.

Hi Brizzler,

I installed this rom about 2 weeks ago and i did'nt have to manually enter the APNs they just appeared.
Also phone is much more responsive and faster and battery holds charge for longer.I also put the same update on a friends phone and he reports the same improvements. The only thing i had to manually change was the language from Dutch to English.:)
PS Also no bugs to report.Notice that Gamer has a Serbian version of this update and this one is a stable Dutch version.

Thanks guys, I'm on it tonight then!

Was toying with a custom ROM but 1 step at a time as I'm pretty new to Android.

Edit:

Need to see if I can root 2.3.5 first...
