Root ROOT HTC Nexus One (Android 2.3.4)

Hello. I know there are "root guides" out there for the HTC Nexus One, but I've tried several and cannot get them to work. Does anyone have a comprehensive root guide that you trust will work? I'm running Android 2.3.4 and have not rooted a phone before. I heard it was simple, but it has not proven to be so. Thanks for your help!

Thank you, razvan06. Is that for rooting my phone, though? It seemed different, and some of the instructions it gave require the phone to already be rooted. I'm still confused and have yet to get my phone rooted. Do you have any other suggestions? I really appreciate your help.

>> This is the same method i used to root my N.O. ,it works :)

Install fastboot [install Android SDK -latest] on the computer.

Boot into bootloader mode by holding down the trackball while turning the device on. You should see a white screen with three skating androids.
Connect the Nexus One to the computer via USB.

On the computer, open terminal [RUN command from Start menu] and run:
fastboot oem unlock

On the Nexus One, a prompt will open up asking you if you are sure you want to unlock the bootloader and again warning you that doing so will void your warranty. If you agree to these terms, press Volume Up to select Yes, and then press the Power button to confirm.

NOTE: Unlocking the bootloader wipes the device.
The Nexus One will reboot.

....after this you will have a unlocked Bootloader !
follow instructions from ClockworkMOD Recovery and you will have a rooted phone after you do all that !

You could give the Easy Rooting Toolkit a try:
[10/Nov][ROOTING/UNROOTING] DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit [v2.0](zergRush Exploit) - xda-developers

It has been confirmed to work for the Nexus One with 2.3.6, but it would not surprise me if it worked with 2.3.4 as well, as it appears to use a general Gingerbread exploit. I have used it for other phones and it is extremely simple, pretty much attach phone to computer and start toolkit.

Yes this method works for sure as it did for me. AFAIK this is the easiest way :)
