Help GPS settings confusion

I'm coming from an original Droid which had two options "GPS satellites" or "VZW network antennas". On the RAZR I'm seeing "google location services", "standalone gps services", and "verizon location services". can someone please define or clarify these a little bit?

I'd prefer to not being connecting to GPS satellites all the time (unless I'm using navigation while driving). Using the VZW network antennas is good enough for me 95% of the time.

Gracias!

Standalone GPS Services uses the actual GPS circuitry on the phone to communicate with the gubment satellites in orbit over our heads. This is the most accurate method.

Verizon location services typically determines location based on the cell towers that your phone is communicating with. This is likely the next most accurate method.

Google location services, I believe, is essentially geolocation using IP address information. Of course knowing Google they might use GPS or aGPS information provided by the phone or OS...

Now could you get away with only using standalone or do you need to use all 3 for different apps?

Thanks. I had the same question but wondered why the built-in GPS toggle widget only controlled the "Standalone" GPS.

So can I assume that I can leave the other two options ON without taking much hit to the battery as long as I'm not navigating? Do they use Data services? i.e. will they not work if I have data turned off?
