So you're sticking with HTC. I'm a fan of sense but it makes to much sense (didn't mean to do that-yuck) not to go with Gnexus. Limited bloatware if any, NFC(not even sure if I'll use it) and the most enticing element, updates from Sammy/Google (should be I hope anyways.) I just see alot of support for this phone for several years and beyond from development to accessories. Not sure about the Samsungs UI compared to HTC Sense. Any feedback on that? Or is that included in ICS... thx

Samsung doesn't get to put TouchWiz on this one. It's all Ice Cream Sandwich.

Hey gang. Stopping in to check on the OTA situation. A quick update: I left the Gingersense ROM behind. I'm finding Peter Alfonso's ROM GPA19 really fast and stable. It is 2.3.7 without Sense. I'm adapting to the lack of Sense. Only issue I found is with graphics intense games the automatic CPU over/under clock feature caused an issue. I've corrected by setting the minimum CPU to 499.

I'm far from an expert on these things, and these are hardly earth shattering insights but even if this update does eventually come, I'm not sure how much difference it makes. Especially considering anyone who really wanted Gingerbread already probably already sampled it through various ROMs, or the people who did actually receive the OTA weren't tech geeks, and barely noticed the difference. OR those who did receive the OTA and had difficulties, probably wished they didn't.

Now that ICS looms on the horizon, for my part I'm just satisfied that I've had a phone since launch that has been this awesome, and continues to be as stable as it is. I've seen all the other phones (except for the new ones) and ours is still the best. The Rezound or the Nexus might be in my future, but quite frankly I can wait and see if there's any downward price pressure early next year.

For what it's worth, I've also tried pretty much every ROM out there, and have found either lagging or FCs on all except Lou's Redemptive ROMs (which rule) and will definitely check out the ROM you mentioned above.

I've decided that they are not sending gingerbread out anymore and are now making a workable version of ICS with newest sense for our phone. I mean, that makes sense, right. Alot of us haven't received any gingerbread love so in return they feel bad about it and are rewarding us with ICS with new sense. Who's with me?!

Not sure I could survive without sense :D
(if that makes any sense)

Makes sense to me. :p

I crammed Manila 2d on to my old HTC Apache. Had who knows how many themes on TouchFlo 3d with the Touch Pro. On the Inc, I lasted ~10 minutes on CM7 before I ditched it to go back to Sense.

A little while back I finally switched clocks to save space, and it felt like I was abandoning an old friend. It was the first time since about 2008 that I hadn't been greeted by HTC's massive clock when I unlocked my phone.

That's funny, I aced that massive clock after about 2 days!! I'd rather see nice wallpaper and keep my apps in a folder than have to deal with all those home screens.

Ok this sucks. I friend who has Motorola Droid got gingerbread 2 weeks ago. We need to get on Verizon's bad side and demand better support. I don't care if I got an upgrade coming in 6 months. I might just keep what I got. It's a customer service and accountability thing. Now they keep trying to offer me new plans and phones with a contract renewal. I think they just want us to give up the unlimited data. This phone is grate and I have no complaints except screen size. If they don't come out and tell us there working hard to keep us up to date I see no reason to have a plan. I'll go prepaid Android.

You don't give up you're unlimited data. afaik if you have unlimited data you keep it, even if you get a new contract.

I am one of the unlucky ones that received the Dinc update.
The missing apps...well I figure if I cant remember which ones are missing , I really didn't need them anyway.
If you didn't know , it gave my dinc a personality problem.
Besides thinking it has EVO larger screen, it also , it thinks it is a sprint EVO phone.
That is probably why an handcent update I applied from market today (that fixed " voice to txt" on sprint phones) also fixed " voice to txt" in the hancent app on my vzw dinc. The update also fixed google voice search.
I had actually thought I had somehow disabled the mic as to why voice to txt was not working.

Even when going from Dinc 3G to nexus 4G?

To me data is data, but I thought that was one reason vzw was doing the double your data pitch. To force people into going with new plan, but saying look at this 2 for 1 deal.
Though thinking about it , that would be a billing problem , if 3G was billed diff than 4G.
I am about 10 miles from 4g coverage, my sister has lg revolution 4G ,says the switching back an forth 4G/3G/4G is smooth and seamless, she drives this 4G/3G area daily.
Glad to hear I don't need to switch to new data plan.

Yea vzw stated that even when you upgrade you would still be grandfathered into unlimited, though no word on if that was only a 4g promotional kinda thing. the double data is killer for anyone not already on unlimited...

but yes, going from Inc 3g to Whatever 4g you should still be grandfathered

What's in the "Incredible Tweaks" section?

Any problem with lag using Nils gingersense? I installed v2.1 on my incredible and it was terribly laggy, took forever to do anything. And this was after multiple wipes/factory resets to try and clear out all data on the phone. I guess I'm asking two things:

1) Was v2.1 terribly laggy for you?
2) if yes, does this fix the problem.

And a third question for good measure, can you take 720p video with v2.2? You were theoretically able to before but it was functionally useless.

Nice find! Looks like they actually covered all the problems...

I wonder if there is any significance in the second set of version numbers changing (.06 to .08).. instead of just incremental like the last update.. (.2 to .3)

Edit: http://support.verizonwireless.com/pdf/system_update/incredible_instructions.pdf

That page was also updated, only 8.6MB. So they must not have had to change much.

It better be fast and smooth to sway me away from CM7. I like stock ROMS for their speed and stability, but CM7 is so good right now!

Just got off the phone asking for early upgrade price for the Rezound. I'm not rooted. Just got the update notification. I guess they want me to hold off till December 29th. Might make it till then if gingerbread performs as it was intended to. I'll check to see if I still have my incredible or an evo. LOL. Wish me luck.

Anyone have luck with the new update being pushed tonight? Got the notification +/- 20 min ago, but didn't want to install it before some feedback appears.
