Mine failed also b/c of not enough space....I deleted Angry Birds (GRRR!) and restarted phone but it didn't update....don't know how to get the update to run again?

Turn off automatically setting the date. Then set the date one month ahead. That will kick off the download again.

Had same thing happen with not enough space.

For those of you who DID get updated with 4.08, how much room did you have on your phone for installation? I deleted about 5 apps that took up some room on the phone side and have over 400mb of free space there. Of course the SD card has over 12gb. How much space do I need? Which partition do I need that space on?

Doesn't Angry Birds install on the SD card? Are you sure that will help your space problem?

I have no clue, it was just the biggest running app aside from FB so I deleted it. I guess I need to look into where it's installed...thanks. OTOH I did DL the app cache cleaner too...maybe it will help.

But I hardly have any apps installed is the thing, I have DL maybe like 6 apps total....so....how the heck do I not have enough space? I keep my emails cleaned out and delete my texts and call history regularly b/c I am one of the people with 'low space' problem anyhow....

I noticed one change about the update, well two. First the badge that's on the Messages icon is back to it's original color and look. The GB update made it red or blue (I forget, but it was different), now it's back to it's original look. The other seems is that the update seems to have fixed the voice recognition problem (you had to shout at the phone for it to understand you).

BTW, was there another thread that was merged into this one? I went to bed and there were about 75 pages... now there's over 110! Busy busy! :)

Same crap here low on space error, delete apps & Data. Dont see why I need to I have plenty of space on the phone. Now the update has gone.

Figures is there anything between google/htc/verizon they can get right. My one pet peeve with Android, Google has to get control of updates somehow.

Setting date forward didnt bring back the update for me.

Same thing on the 2 phone in my house.

I got GB (4.06) but unlike most, I am noticing a significant battery drain with GB. I have an unrooted phone, and an extended battery and since the update the thing is just tanking. I don't understand it. Thoughts? I read in another area that some people have to factory reset the phone in order to calibrate the battery. Should I? I also understand there is a second update coming out. Should I wait for that?

Turn off automatically setting the date. Then set the date one month ahead. That will kick off the download again.

I did this and nothing happened. When I set it back to the correct date it did kick it off again, I chose install now, it rebooted but didn't update. Weird.

I was one who reported yesterday that the first update "disappeared" before I could get a chance to install it. It never came back. Now others are reporting the second update if out. I've tried all the tricks mentioned here to get the first update back - checkin, *228, set the date a month ahead, reboot. None of them seemed to work. I'm still waiting for the first update to reappear. Any idea what's going on?

So a second update came today(after gingerbread yesterday) I guess I needed to free some space so it canceled. Now the phone shows no updates. I shure hope it pushes again tonight.

I had to same problem and I did the "set the date ahead" trick and it didn't work so I did the *#*#checkin#*#* and my second update is downloading now. Hopefully it works this time ;)

This morning my Droid Incredible (ADR6300) told me it needed to update to 4.###### so I said YES, proceed. It rebooted and attempted to upgrade but told me there wasn't enough space. I didn't think the ADR6300 was getting Ice Cream Sandwich? Especially one day after its release.

I did happen to run Unrevoked on it yesterday but it failed to get root since I'm running 2.3.4. Is there an official ICS release for the ADR6300?

If this is legit how can I force it to try and upgrade again?

I'm chiming in as another who got the '4.06...' update yesterday, then got the '4.08...' update this morning, downloaded it and was told I didn't have enough space. I deleted Opera browser (~11MB) but phone now said I was "up to date." Found the set month ahead trick, that worked... downloaded the update and it was verified, but now when I tap "Restart & install" it just stays on "Rebooting now..."

Also, now my apps on SD refuse to be recognized (despite trying all the tricks/tips I've found in the forums).

Has anyone had any resolution to this? I've got a support ticket going with HTC and just responded to them with the above description. I'm hoping they have some shred of a clue left.

Also tried the set the date forward trick. It asked me if i wanyed to install now. Selected yes, did the count down to reboot, then just let me go back to my email. It didnt even fake reboot.

You can download it direct from here to your PC:

http://android.clients.google.com/pa...ase_222219.zip

Rename to update (most likely) or update.zip depending on how your computer handles file extentions (most PC's automatically add the .zip so if you add it again you end up with update.zip.zip). Place newly renamed file onto SD card, goto hboot, use volume keys to highlight recovery, the power button to select. Now press volume up to get list of recovery options. Use volume keys again to scroll to the update.zip option and press power button to select, don't interrupt the update. It would be wise once you're booted back up to do a factory reset IMO.

I think there were 3 possible updates:

1.) 4.06.605.2
2.) 4.06.605.3
3.) 4.08.605.2

You'd only use the above method if you were sitting on 4.06.605.3 already and failed the final leap to 4.08.605.2. Unfortunately, it's more confusing than usual due to the mulitple patches.

Just double checking...I am on 4.06.605.3 and didn't have room for the last update. This is the update that I was supposed to get and can now install? (Sorry for the stupidity, I'm so a tech idiot when it comes to the phone)

Same exact thing. It even prompted me a few minutes later after I changed my date back. Still nothing.

I changed the date, checked in, powered off and on. Repeated. Went to move an app from sd to phone and the update asked me to install it. I am doing so now. It says 10 minutes and the screen says it's rebooting now. Seems to be taking forever to reboot. I hope this works.
