I'm finally getting the update (but having problems getting it to install). However, I noticed something. It claims to be 87.7 MB and version 4.08.whatever. I thought the first update was version 4.06.whatever and 87.7 MB and 4.08 was only a few MB.

After apparently pulling the first update a few days ago, is it possible they have combined the two updates into a single update?

Good morning folks. I was having problems installing this latest OTA where I kept getting the not enough space error (got that 3 times). After deleting a bunch of stuff I tried again and then it would just count down and not do anything (got that about 3 times, too). In trying to resolve this and actually get the update to 4.08 I managed to click "CLEAR STORAGE" on the HBOOT screen. Well, when the phone restarted I got the 4.08 update to finally install, but now I'm not sure what I should do next.

1.) What is the difference between "clear storage' and a factory reset? Should I do a factory reset?

2.) I tried to root the thing with Unrevoked 3.32 just now, and when it tried to get root I got an error message stating it was unsuccessful and that maybe my firmware was too new. Is there a way to get root with unrevoked 3.32 now that I'm on 4.08? I just want root to uninstall some of the bloatware. I might do more later, but that's all I'm looking for at this point. I read a TON of posts on here about rooting, but so many folks were doing so many different things (downgrading, etc.) it was hard for me to figure out if I could just get root now that I'm on 4.08.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Gary

So I have gingerbread and today is the first day I tried to connect my phone to my PC, but my PC is not recognizing my phone, I go to my computer and my device does not show and the drives don't show either, use to be K and L drives show up. The phone does show USB Disk Drive connected but why is it not showing up on my PC?

Since successfully (????) installing both updates....getting error message....SD Card Not Accessible. The SD Card is not accessible when the phone is connected to your PC.

And...of course...I am NOT connected to my PC.....

Any ideas?

Stupid question......

If you do a factory reset.....does it come back up to 2.34 with the updates still intact? or does it go back to 2.2?

So do you think Gingerbread is the end of our updates??
Absolutely! I was fully convinced that after the Sept. GB botch that we'd be eating Froyo until our next handset upgrade. Can you imagine the raft of s**** VZW is taking for this mess , particularly by the users that have no idea about these android forums? That's not to say that VZW didn't crap in their own mess kit by pushing the wrong update.

At this point, they're probably thinking twice about putting ICS on the Rezound.

just started the update. hoping for the best.
since a prior update I've had to click a "tab" to download and read emails in gmail; nobody at VZW store can explain.
hope I don't lose much, but hoping for a new phone soon anyway: razr or nexus.

Has anyone tried to connect their phone to their PC since getting gingerbread?

I don't understand why my phone isn't connecting to my PC, it always did before gingerbread.

Mine thinks it Is connected already.....I can connect to the pc.....but my sd card is not accessible.

Error message says. Can not access sd card when phone is connected to computer......which it isn't

I did a factory reset and downloaded the update. Everything went smooth, I don't notice anything different though.

I don't have my phone in front of me so I can't say for sure, but I believe there is a way to unmount and mount the SD card under settings, you might try that.

Tried that several times (unmounting and remounting)....as well as the chkdsk option from the PC....

Turns out...it was just one app (evernote) that couldn't see the SD card.
Uninstalled and reinstalled and it appears to be working ok now.

Onward and upward!!!!

I got my update Wednesday night and Thursday. It did seem faster. Friday morning my phone was dead. It was stuck on the HTC screen and would not move. Did a soft and a factory re-boot and nothing would work. I took it to Verizon where it was pronounced dead.

It took an hour but they finally gave me a replacement for the Incredible. My early NE2 is the end of next month. All they would allow me was a refurb Motorola Droid. A real tank. Weighs a ton. I talked to Verizon ( on the phone) and they agreed to send me a replacement INC. They were very understanding. Very different from the Verizon store.

I have really liked the original Incredible with the exception of the call quality. It was mushy from the day I got it. I got the phone on release day.
My next decision will be whether to get a Iphone 4s or the new Nexus.

So just checked my Incredible anf the update notification was waiting for it. Went ahead and said 'install'. ir immediately restarted and went through the update graphic...

will see how this goes

Edit: not enough space, LOL!

I could use some help lol

When I connect my phone to my PC the only item that shows up under devices w/ removable storage section is an icon that says CDROM J:
I don't have the other 2 drives: phone storage or SD card
I tried unmounting sd card and rebooting phone and PC.
Any ideas?

ok - phone has had issues since the 2.3 update - out of memory, losing service, random reboots, etc (posted long ago in this thread).

got the patch earlier this week - went to install it and got the out of memory error.

finally got around to doing the hboot to clear cache as posted a couple pages back in this thread...
Second GB Update/Patch Won't Reboot Issue - SOLVED! - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com

then set the date / time back a few days ago to get the update message. this time the update installed correctly to 4.08....

now to see if this patch actually fixes any of the issues......

I got both updates during the week. Some missing widgets. Launcher Pro wasn't working until I got rid of the fast boot under settings. The dreaded low space message returned - hadn't been able to get rid of that.

Now this morning, I got another message to update, I knew I hadn't read about any other updates (I was up to 4.08) but I did the update anyway. It took me back to 4.06 . I can't keep Launcher Pro working (even without fast boot), it keeps reverting to Sense.

So frustrating
