Help File Transfer through USB

I can't seem to be able to transfer files to my computer through the USB cable. When I plug my phone into my computer my phone does not show anything in the status bar (as some people have told me it should) and my computer has no real reaction. The only thing that happens is the phone starts charging. I've tried tinkering with the USB Debugging Disable/Enable checkbox and have also tried the USB Utilities tab in settings but without any luck. Please help!!

Samsung phones have been known to be very fussy with cables. Make sure you are using the cable that came with the phone and not just any old Micro USB cable. And, if you have a couple of different cables sitting around try them all. Once plugged in you should see an icon in the notification bar that says "USB Connected".

My E4GT used to just connect as soon as I plugged it in, but has gotten a little "fussy" recently. Not sure why the change, but now I have to ...

1.) make sure the phone is "awake" and not on the lock screen
2.) pull down the notification bar and tap the USB notification. This takes me to a screen where I have to select "Connect USB storage".

Hope that helps.

humm you must still be on dialup. wireless speeds are great for me. but i did try it wired and it works perfect. this is what i did. i connect the usb cable from my gs2 to my cpu, and the usb icon popped up in my drop down notifier bar. i opened the dropdown and hit the usb icon and an android splash screen appreard that said connect. i hit connect and thier was my gs2 hard drive on my computer. so i know it works.

It has nothing to do with your ISP connection. It is done over WiFi. Compare data transfer speeds over USB VS WiFi and you'll understand the reason for my "speed" response.

Please tell me more about this "hard drive" you have on your phone.

I had never thought to try the other cable plugged into my computer. When I used the other cable I had instead of the one from my car charger it worked fine. Thank you for the help!

I had trouble at first finding where to turn on USB storage...

It's under Settings
Under Wireless and Network
You have to click a button on it.
Then plug it in.
Then click another button.

You may want to connect it directly to one of your rear(if it's a desktop) usb plugs as this can help with connection issues too. I've seen this on several machines. I can connect it to my Macintosh via a "powered" USB hub, though.
