Logitech dropping the Revue?

There are rumors of an LG TV getting Google TV this spring though -- and of course Moto makes lots and lots of set top boxes (I use one for my FiOS)

So G-TV is far from dead imo, but logitech walking away is a bit of a bummer :(

I agree, I also really enjoy my Revue. Once HC is running on it then watch out!

So...is it still "worth" investing in the Logitech Revue? Or are there better set-top boxes out there, or coming soon?
I am only now really starting my GTV research, my sister wants one to go with whatever new TV she ends up getting.

Well, since they're dropping production of the Revue, and it seems that support will follow, I would look elsewhere. I bought one when they came out, otherwise I'd be on something else right now. I'm still waiting on the promised update that keeps getting pushed beyond the promised time. Too much longer, and I'm going to look into updating it myself.

Oddly enough I hadn't even thought of a tab!! That may fit her needs.
She is going to get a new TV (not overly fancy) for Christmas and wanted something to go with it so her kids could watch Netflix or she could check her email/FB/Twitter quickly/instead of busting out her laptop. I thought of GTV right away, never even considered a tablet.

The revue is still a good device and perfect for those needs. It will get updated, eventually

For the price it does almost seem the way to go. I have been looking around at tabs, mini-towers, cheap laptops and GTV (she keeps changing her mind!) but do keep coming back to GTV/Logitech Revue for her.

I have one and I love it as is... When it gets updated then watch out.

What it does it does well. In my sig is a link to GTV forums. There is a very good rightup of GTV by a very good developer and admin, also associated with phandroid. You should sign up there and help grow that community:)

I also love my Revue as it is. Output quality is excellent. Online video is fast and stable. Signing up with unblockUS (only $4.99 a month) allows me to see all U.S. online video, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Crackle, etc. Youtube HD video is also great and easy on this box. Vimeo HD, TED HD, Revision3 HD, etc. are all smooth with the box.

Also great wireless keyboard/touchpad.

Agreed, all that works great. HD all around with fast streaming.
But the media player is the worst I've ever seen. It only plays avi, and only about half the time. That's one of the biggest reasons I'm desperately wanting the update.

And for the life of me I can't figure out the differences between the ones that play and the ones that don't. It's always the same files that play.

Agree'd, makes NO sense at all. Really hoping media player sees VAST improvements... hell i'm cool with all the delays if logitech actually gets the media player up to par. I could of had a WD live or a Roku

Even if they don't fix the media player, once the market is available I'm sure we will see 3rd party apps to fill the void. I am hoping for a good port of VLC personally.

I'm still waiting for that on my phone! Lol.
But I totally hope so
