That's exacty what the iPhone does just add hardware features.
3G, video camera etc
 
i would say pretty legit, i mean they did say 1H2010, and Q1 is half way through, so i guess this is their way of saying, definitely not Q1!! atleast they narrowed it a bit... i was expecting it on June 30th!
 
And there you have it, folks -- word straight from Sprint that the much-anticipated Android 2.1 update will be coming to the HTC Hero and Samsung Moment "early" in the second quarter of this year.

"HTC said today that it will update the GSM Hero, Sprint Hero, and Verizon Wireless DROID ERIS to the latest Android 2.1 operating system. The update will also include HTC's new Sense user interface which adds a host of new features, including improvements in social networking, multitouch, and user interface updates. It appears the new Sense elements will be provided at some point after 2.1 is made available to the Sprint Hero as an update to 2.1 from HTC.

It's not being pushed back, all the earlier dates were rumors. Sprint and HTC have been sayin 1H2010 since the begining. So it's actually right in time with what they have been saying if not a little earlier.
 
Hmm, thats the way it reads to me. I haven't complained once, I don't care if it takes longer. Just spreading the word. Hopefully your right though.
 
There is a 2.1 speculation thread where this information has already been posted a few times. Anything related to 2.1 should be posted there

Yes, but they initially said early 1H2010...so early Q2 would technically mean it's been delayed.
 
A half = 1/2
A quarter = 1/4

A half times a quarter = 1/8

An (1/8)^2 = 1/64

And 1/(1/64) = 64

64 = the number of people crying about this so far. Coincidence????? Probably not.

FYI - my note is about enhancements to the Sense UI in 2.1, and whether they'll be available to the Sprint Hero. And not about when 2.1 will be delivered ...
 
All I know is, I would rather have a heavily tested OS compared to an OS that is full of bugs. I mean, I doubt the brass are sitting back in their laboratory chairs saying "ok, its ready to go... now lets just sit here on out asses with our thumbs up our butts and play around with the 1.5 consumer base".

Am I right to want a very GOOD version of 2.1 that wont turn my phone into a bee hive?

Yeah.....I honestly do not understand how "it's so hard" for a few people in this forum (sea of knowledge) be be civilized....also know as "nice".
 
If this thread doesn't stop going off into petty arguments, it will be closed. The offical line is that this update will be released in early Q2, so i suggest we wait until early Q2 rolls around and see what happens then, shall we?
