Root Rooted my Commando

There is a thread over here ([HOW-TO] Root R800x/i v2.3.3+ (zergRush Method) - xda-developers) with a lot of additional info including a great pdf by paxchristos showing the entire process.

Hahahahaha, you found me!

Right now the guide still needs work done on it, that's why it's only on the xperia play site (I'm most active on that site) and sometime when I get a day off (or a good couple hours) I might fix all the little typos and post it on here

Note: Just updated the guide, with Casio Commando Information (The guide is a one size fits all, so it still has xperia play info in it) it's found here:

At dropbox.com: http://db.tt/RaAUnzjW
At Ubuntu one: http://ubuntuone.com/64OujxgkGMv1N2QSoPmXin

paxchristos;
We all owe you and the rest of the crew a big "THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!".

You people rock!

I am now running 2.3.3 and I am ROOTED! (Was holding off on the 2.3.3 update until the root-fix was found)

So this works... Kudos to paxchristos

I have a "Certified Like New" replacement device on its way to me so I can play too!
Some more changes at Big Red I suppose. Warrenty devices used to come overnight or two-day shipping via FedEx at no charge. Now we have to wait four days if we are wanting free shipping. This is okay, though. I'm never home when FedEx comes by to collect my autograph.

After reading the above linked guide I am going to try to recover my boot looped phone. If I can use this to get adb root access I may be able to replace the libaudioflinger.co file that I screwed my phone up with. I can only send one command at a time using adb wait-for-device but it just might work.

What are the steps to unroot the zergRush root? My mouthpiece speaker went dead and I have a new replacement commando. I understand I can just delete Superuser and BusyBox...some unroot instructions here would complete the info on this phone for everyone. Thanks so much!!!

If you're rooted, do not do a factory reset until you remove superuser and busybox. I posted a link on how to do that in the thread about unrooting..... is that method still valid with the update and new root?

Update: New batch file that works with casio commando!!

unzip, and run it, it does all the work for you!

Download here:

Dropbox.com: http://db.tt/ipjtdLZB
Ubuntu One: http://ubuntuone.com/0dFyj3MOxLdQ91DaYix0z4

Enjoy!!

Update: I have an unroot script for linux if anybody needs that (I seem to miraculously have deleted the unroot script I have for windows... stupid me... i'll see if I can't write one up...)

Can't get the batch file to work. This is a screenshot of what I run into. It runs, gets to this point, and closes almost too fast to get a screenshot.

Just wanted to make sure you have the drivers and adb installed on your computer. Go to the folder that contains adb and type "adb devices". It should report the ESN of your phone. If it does not, then you have a driver issue or usb debugging is not enable on your phone.

Ohh wait. I don't have zergrush downloaded along with superuser, su binary, or busybox. I presume the must already be on my computer? :D

Having some trouble finding them. Do you have any links to downloads? Also, where should I download them?

The zergRush package has all the su files. I did the manual method and had to download a busybox from the market . I was suggesting the adb command to verify that your phone and computer were communicating. Once you verify this, you should be able to root. The best place to get adb is to google Android-sdk. The first hit should be for the software development kit. Its a large download. If you want you can go to xda and see if you can just find the adb application because you don't need the full sdk to root your phone.

Unzip *everything* in root.zip, and try re-running it thru command prompt

Got it! Duh... Uzipped the Batch file with out the "files" folder

Thanks pax!

edit: Now I'm getting an error from Titanium Backup saying that it could not acquire root privileges

Nevermind again, simply updated superuser
