Hi all

Is there an update on this front? I am planning to buy an Android phone and would like to sync the contacts between Android and ThunderBird / SunBird

Presently I am using a Windows mobile with ThunderBird / SunBird via FinchSync

Please advise.

Thanks and regards

Thanks a lot. I checked it out but it is syncing with Google / Zimbra, being new to Android I am a bit lost on how I can get it to sync with the phone.

Please advise

Kind regards

Then how do they come back into the Android phone? I am really not comfortable to use my gmail.com account to store each and ever contact and it's detail in my ThunderBird

Please advise (sorry for being dense)

Thanks and regards

Unless you turn it off in the phone's settings, any additions or changes made to your Google contacts are automatically downloaded (syncronized) to the phone contacts. And any changes or additions made in the phone contacts are uploaded (syncronized) to your Google contacts.

I wouldn't worry about it. There are far more serious security concerns in the world.

With Google contacts you mean a regular gmail (or gmail apps) web-mail account?

:) you are correct but I would not want to be on the receiving end :)

You could look into an online service called Memotoo which syncs with just about anything under the sun. The premium service costs $1.5/month but, personally, I prefer to pay for essential things so that there is a contract and I have better access to support and am (probably) less subject to the whims of the service provider changing terms.

Currently, i am just using it to synch my work Outlook calendar with Thunderbird/Lightning as my SF2 links to my work exchange and all my contacts are stored there. I did use Memotoo for contacts when I had a Nokia N900 and it worked well.

MyPhoneExplorer will sync to Thunderbird. I use it to sync to Outlook myself so don't know the finer details of syncing with Thunderbird but pop over to ... FJ Software Development ... for the SW and to .. FJ Software :: Forum anzeigen - English section ... for the English language forum.

App on the phone and client on the PC means I sync over wifi. Contacts/notes/calendar/tasks from Outlook and mp3s from my PC to phone (Desire HD). I even use it to install apps on the phone from my PC (when they're not from the market).

PS: oh, and it's free ....
