Sent in for repair

Tomorrow it will be two weeks since I sent my daughters phone back to Sony for repair for the second time. Problem has been she is unable to charge the phone. They sent it back the first time saying it was fixed but it wasn't so this time I have had to send it back with charger and battery. There is still no sign of it having reached them or them having looked at it. It only took them a week the first time to return it. Not impressed with this at all.

Yes, they said they would chase it up and let me know in 2-3 days what was happening. Still waiting. I wonder if Virgin Mobile will let her off a month's payment as she hasn't been able to use it for 3 weeks at least.

I assume you sent it Special Delivery? If so, does the tracking show it as having been delivered? If not, you can hardly blame Sony for delaying it if they haven't even received it!

Sorry, I meant I am not happy with the delay, whether it is the PO or Sony.

Edit: Just called Sony and the chap there couldn't find it on the system either so he said he would now escalate it and make it a priority and I should hear back from them within 7, yes 7, working days!!!

Then I got an email from them, probably in response to my initial enquiry, to say the phone has been repaired and was sent out on the 9th December. So it has been there in the Repair Centre all this time, but not put on the system for some reason.

Glad you got the answer you were looking for and should be getting it back soon.

However, in case you need to send this or any other phone in for repairs in the future, you must use Special Delivery, as ordinary post or recorded delivery will not cover you should the item get lost. Also, you would be able to prove that they've received it (or not).

In the email they sent me with instructions on how to send the phone to them it doesn't mention Special Delivery. It just says get proof of sending.

They may say that, but I bet that, if the phone did get lost in transit, Sony would then tell you to claim from Royal Mail, who, in turn, would reject any claim if you hadn't sent it by their correct method, which is Special Delivery.

Right, an update. Phone arrived back today and it seems they have fixed it this time. Hard to make out what they have actually done from the ticket but it looks like they have fitted a new usb socket and supplied a new lead for the charger. They have updated the software and it seems to charge ok.

All in all glad that my daughter has her phone back in working order. Shame it wasn't fixed the first time around but alls well that ends well. One puzzling thing is that they sent it back to a Mr Colin Charles and not to me, Charles Collins!!!

Maybe it's a Japanese thing.

Japanese people go by last name first, first name last.

Maybe Sony uses some sort of database that was made in Japan.....I donno....or they just messed up :)
