Help Best Purchase place?

exige

Newbie
I have been following the Razr since release and decided to get it but wanted to wait until after xmas incase someone got it for me. Well I recieved cash for it and I have an upgrade with verizon. I am trying to find out the best place to get it. Most of the threads on deals from costco / amazon are really old or do not apply to upgrades.

I was curious if you guys know the best place to get one at the moment I live in colorado. Didnt know if that would make a difference since we dont all have the same electronics stores.

I picked mine up at Costco with the bundle for $199. including the HD dock, but it was for new Verizon customers only. Upgrade price was $249. but still had the bundle and accessory pack with it. Check the web site as Costco's prices seem to change every week.

Amazon worked for me; though doc + razr for $200 is pretty good - but no costco near me.

You should be aware that all of the these places (letstalk, wirefly, costco, walmart) have secondary contracts with independent etf; read the fine print so you understand the secondary conditions (i suspect they are similar; but for amazon if you are late on a payment or change your plan for first 6 months it is $250).

Be aware that state sales tax, if you have it, is calculated based on the full retail price of the device, not the subsidized priced. In Massachusetts, this adds about $35 to the cost of the Razr, even if you're getting it for $1! Amazon Wireless charges no tax and gives an instant rebate of any Verizon price breaks. They beat Verizon's price by $55 on my RAZR purchase (base price was $20 cheaper plus the $35 saved on state sales tax).

Costco and Walmart do NOT have secondary contracts. After spending a good amount of time reading every line of fine print only Verizon's contract terms are effective through them. That secondary contract line is also some BS because costco out sells verizon resellers such as bullfrog and even corporate stores,

Would I have problems with my grandfathered in unlimited plan going through costco etc? I might just hang onto the X for a few months and see if the price drops really didnt want to spend more then 200$ lol

That was a concern I had also. I still don't know the answer to the question 'cause I decided it was best to get my phone upgrade through Verizon, just to make sure there weren't any problems. I really didn't want to have to make changes to my plan and lose the unlimited data.

Bought mine through Amazon as an existing Verizon customer. I ened up paying $229 for and saved $20 dollars and didn't pay the sales tax. Good deal in my eyes.

Not in FL. Sales tax is on the purchase price. just checked my receipt, sale tax was on the $199. purchase price. Taxachusetts is called that for a reason, they tax you for money you don't spend or have.
