Help did anyone just get a software update text from sprint?...is this for cl14?

Just got it at 430...nothing shown on sprint moment update page. What was the text for?
 
I got the text from sprint too.. same time right around 4:30 pm.
I'm going to wait till tonight... I read somewhere that it might wipe out all of my apps though... no big deal but not while i'm on the road.
anyone try it yet?

Maybe the text is only going out to the ones who do not currently have CL14 installed on their phone's ???? Because I did not get any such text from Sprint, but I just bought my phone a few weeks ago.
 
My wife got a Moment a month ago. She didn't get a text today. How can I tell if she already has the update somehow?
 
I got the text also. Had my phone about 2 months. If anyone does the update please post. Not sure if I need to do mine and if it will be worth it.

Menu, settings, about phone...scroll down and read the baseband version. If it has the update the the info will end in CL14.

Menu > Settings > About Phone (look for Baseband Version. Should end in CL14 - if not, then you need to do the upgrade)

This update includes:
Network Assist GPS to allow indoor location fix.
Updates to several third-party apps, including Visual Voicemail, NFL, NASCAR and Sprint TV.
Change to Emergency Dial on lock screen.
Hard reset available in recovery mode: remove and reinsert battery; press volume down, send and end keys until reboot option pops up; scroll to wipe data/factory reset; press OK.
Various improvements to battery life.
 
i got the text message this afternoon too. I did the update over the web when it came out last week though. Id say get yourself updated as my phone is working better than ever with cl14.
 
Does this update reset the phone? (Lose contacts, apps, ect) And if I haven't gotten it automatically, can I just go to a store amd have it done?
 
go to the store or download it and load yourself using your pc. its easy enough. your phone gets wiped in the process but any paid apps are re-downloadable, free apps you have to go back and install. your contacts are stored on a google server and will automatically return once your phone is updated and you log in with your gmail address.

Thanks, my wife won't be happy about the wipe though. I don't think her contacts are synced to Google either. I haven't looked on her phone, but I know on my Hero I would have had to set them as google contacts when I entered them, which I didn't.

Is there a significant improvement in battery life? If not, we may wait until 2.1. I don't think she'll want to reconfigure her phone again in 2 months for that update too.

I used MyBackup from the market. Backed up everything even your home screen settings. I did have to reset my ringtone and digital clock widget but it restores almost everything so it's worth doing to get the update. :)
 
Just called a Sprint store to see about this update and they said they usually don't do things like that? He said I could update myself on my home PC, but that thing is ancient and doesn't even recognize our phones. He then told me if we bring it in they can try, it just might take 45 minutes to do.
 
I've had my phone since Nov 1, and received no text. I'm adding it to the list of reasons Sprint sucks. But at least I'm fortunate enough to have found this forum to know about the update on my own :)

By the way, for those of you who haven't updated to CL14 yet, you can get MYBACKUP from the android market and it will save all your stuff. Also, App Dragon will email you a list of your apps for re-downloading if needed.
