Song ID app

My old verizon phone had such a program from verizon. does anybody know a app that will ID a song after listening to it for a few seconds?

an free app off the Market called "Shazam" , it works wonders! :)

just to let you know, ive tried this app with numerous songs and it only had about a 60 percent accuracy rate. it seems to only recognize popular songs you may hear on the radio. but after all... it might just be me
 
Yes, I love this app.

Now some of the songs I have in mp3 format on my sd card are labeled, but not with the artist and song title properly. I wish there was an app that would seek out this information and replace the title accordingly so my music would be categorized properly. Does anyone know of an app for that?

Hmm...I wonder if the accuracy could vary based upon the phone itself and the mic quality? Because I've found mine (HTC Hero) to be 100% accurate. I even held it up once in the middle of Disney World to ID a song they were playing on the loudspeakers for one of the parades, and it got it within about 5 seconds. I was shocked, but impressed.

On another note, does anyone remember the old Verizon commercials when they introduced the music ID service? The ones playing Rock the Casbah where the guy thought it was called "Lock the Cashbox". Classic, in my opinion ;)
 
I went to a club yesterday and used shazam on a song I didn't know....

it did come back with a result but now I've forgotten what it came back with and can't remember the tune either :D

just wanted to check if its accurate.
 
if you used Shazam it should have recorded the information for you to view again later.
It's been 100% for me and I've used it on A LOT of songs.
 
hello guys I'm new at this, i couldn't download shazam, has anyone got a link where i can do so? it tells me that's not compatible, i've got the htc hero.

This would be a good app only if it worked well. I mean you may find a song sounds alike and it finds the wrong artist but it's the same song, then if it went and automatically re-named your music surely you would be a bit annoyed?

Worked fine for me on my Hero too.
