Why are people enabling Asus?

Instead of holding them accountable? It is confusing to me why people are enabling Asus, gobbling up defective Primes - instead of demanding some form of resolution....whether it be a partial refund or a trade in towards the new one when it comes out or just returning the unit. They even announced a newer, better unit during the Prime launch.

Do not get me wrong, I have the original Transformer and am happy with it but I would never buy a Prime from them, mainly because it sends the wrong message....which is its okay to sell us defective product.

Apple would never have screwed up like this and then expected us to keep their defective product, just saying.

BB return policy is until 1/24....I think everybody should take advantage of that.

It seams that alot of people (including myself) have recieved 100% working Primes. Albeit there are alot of defective ones that may have come from a sepereate build version (remember when the first HTC Evos came out, there are 5 different builds of those).

Apple never screwing up like this...I am not even going to touch this one, and expect some flame posts about that one.

and 3, most people got their primes from amazon, expansys, office depot and gamestop, so BB is kind of out of the question...

...just my 2cents

IPhone 4 Death Grip antenna issue, nuff said. Apple didn't admit a problem till over a month later, and their fix was a $5 rubber band for the phone. At least Asus has come right out and said they had a problem, and by all appearances have been working to fix issue since it was confirmed. Just saying....

I'm like thicket, no problems with my tablet since I got it.

I have seen there public statement, but dont recall if it actually admits issue? It admits users are unhappy, and they are looking into it. I also noticed in the "refund for uk customers" link, they made a statement saying "no units were sold with a wifi issue, but if users are unhappy with their product ..." how can they deny it then?

BTW My tablet is flawless with the exception of GPS that doesn't work (i don't care) and a weak as heck wi-fi. I would definitely like the wifi signal increased, if possible! ultimately i love it and will keep it. I just hope i never have to go anywhere with a weak wifi signal ha

The UK statement was that no units were delivered with defective wifi, but if anyone isn't happy with the GPS then they should return it. Two different issues covered in that statement, so no contradiction whatsoever.

I stand corrected, I hadnt read it that closely. But my point still stands .. "no units were delivered with defective wifi"

I guess "technically" thats true, as all the wifi's will work, in the literal sense?

But the performance of the wifi is absolute SH*T unless you sit on top of a router lol

i really had to chuckle when i read the op... like everyone has mentioned, Apple's response to antenna-gate was:

1. there isn't a problem
2. you're holding it wrong
3. there is a problem, and all you have to do is pay us more money and we'll give you a cheap case to help...

but, that obvious softball analogy aside, i'm not really sure what all the furor is about. i can understand being upset if people were really going to be depending on the Prime for GPS. but, that's not why i got my tablet.

i got my Prime because of quad core, Android, ICS, screen, and build quality. so far, it has exceeded my expectations. my wife and 2 kids each have iPad2's, and i wouldn't trade my Prime for all 3 of them.

as for wifi, i guess some people are having issues, but i'm not one of them. i have WiFi Analyzer installed on my Prime and GNex. when i hold them side by side, the signal to the Prime equals, if not slightly exceeds, the signal to the GNex. granted, i've only tested it at home and the office, and haven't tested it in other areas where the wifi signal might be weaker. but, so far, i haven't noticed any issues. besides, i use wifi at home and the office 99% of the time anyway...

as for being upset that the Prime TF700t is coming out, i can sorta understand that. but, Asus projected it for Q2, which more than likely means July or August, anyways. in today's market, any device you get is going to be upgraded/outdated in 6-8 months. so, imo, that's not really a basis for hating on Asus (unless you're going to be consistent, and hate on Moto, HTC, Sammy, etc., as well).

Are you kidding me? The iPhone 4's Antennagate was already mentioned. To my knowledge, Apple hasn't done anything to resolve this issue except offer a freaking rubber band (literally).

Then there's the entire line of MacBook Pros that Apple released that generated so much heat because of their aluminum bodies with inadequate venting that Apple had to add a disclaimer in their manuals that said notebooks shouldn't be used as "laptops" (!). "Yes, they get really freaking hot, so make sure not to place them against your skin when they're in use."

Speaking of heat issues, I believe that iPads can't be used outside in hot weather because they overheat. I remember a couple of people I know complaining about that (I live in SoCal, where, of course, it often gets hot), and I don't believe there was any resolution from Apple.

The original iPad had widespread wireless issues, and Apple's response was to recommend things like reconfiguring routers to only use a single band, etc. I don't know if they ever took returns on these units and fixed the problem.

I don't think it's a matter of giving ASUS a pass. ASUS has been absolutely hammered with complaints about the Prime. However, I'm keeping mine because it's the best choice for how I want to use a tablet. Wifi is fine for my needs (and I've tested it in every conceivable situation for me), I don't care about GPS (although I don't blame those who do), I love the Super IPS+ screen when I need to use the Prime outdoors, etc.

I'm keeping the Prime because it's a great device. Every gadget I've owned has had compromises. Every single one. The trackpad on my HP Envy 14 is HORRIBLE, so I use and external mouse. Why? Because I love everything else about the notebook. My Epic 4G Touch has worse radio performance across the board than my Motorola Photon, but I use it anyways. Why? Because I love the screen for playing video (but hate it for ebook reading; go figure).

I don't know why Apple gets away with so many initial build quality and overall design issues (yellow screens, light bleed, wifi performance, poor heat dissipation, etc.), but they do. Why should ASUS get so much more heat?

So you're trolling the transformer prime forums and you don't even own the tablet. I think this thread should be deleted.

my prime is perfectly fine and I love everything about it.

before i ditched my ipad, i upgraded to ios5, during which time it said to backup and sync your device before updating in order to restore it later...so i did (i had work documents, notes, photos, etc).

I guess Apple has a different idea of what backup and restore actually means:
IE; make copies of your stuff to be able to put your stuff back on later...needless to say I LOST ALL OF MY STUFF!!!

I moved over to An Acer Iconia tab, and now a Prime, i will never go back...

Didn't mean to get your panties in a wad, just an opinion....one which everyone who advocates or has signed the petition shares.

You don't even own the tablet so what opinion do you have that matters? Admit it you're just trolling.

I own the tablet and keyboard and everything you say about it is nonsense.

Oh by the way im using my transformer prime with the keyboard dock to type this.
