Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

hello, I have a music player issue. More like a puzzle that I can't resolve. I am a music producer, I placed some rough mixes of new but not yet released songs on my phone. I have now later versions of these songs with slightly modified titles. and although I have removed all previous songs, totally deleted them and even disabled and enabled the music player and made sure my Google Music account is totally empty, the Music Player simply refuses to update the name of these songs. No matter what I do, it keeps showing the old names with edit version numbers, even though it's playing the latest files.

I have also looked at all folders to see if there is a cache anywhere, but none to be found. Music Player was cleared already.

Furthermore, I installed another player app and it was still showing the old song names.

What the hell is going on?

GRRRR! Very frustrating day today; I was out all day running errands, and for some reason my phone lost the ability to receive any data connection at all shortly after I left, and has been without data the entire day! Several airplane mode toggles and restarts, nothing changed. I took a screenshot:

I left the house about halfway through the graph, where it starts dropping more sharply as I tried to fiddle with the phone to get data back. Usually, I had 3G or 4G signal, but in grey, as in the screenshot above. At least some of the red parts are when I was on the train underground, but I'm not sure about the others. During several points through the day, the phone indicated blue signal (presumably the green parts on the latter half of the graph), which should mean that there was connectivity, but when I tried opening a web page, nothing happened. Finally, upon arriving back home a short time ago, I connected to my home Wi-Fi, and still can't get web surfing or any other data-requiring task to work! The weirdest part is that the screenshot seems to indicate I had the same data level that I did before leaving the house; however, I know that I had checked a web page shortly before I left and it worked. There's some sort of disconnect here, and I can't figure out what it is.

PS - if the need for more than Color Notes comes up, check out Catch Notes or Evernote. I prefer the Catch, myself.
I've been using Evernote with the GNex, and while I'm relatively pleased so far, there's a functionality I'm missing - I had a small app on my OG Droid simply called "Notification Notes" and it would stick notes up in the system part of the notifications bar, so that when I hit the clear button, it wouldn't be wiped off. I found this very convenient, especially because I could see the first line of each note right from the notifications bar. Hitting the clear all button on the GNex/ICS causes all my notifications to clear, including Evernote notes. Has ICS removed the ability to have notification bar items unaffected by the "clear all" button since implementing the individual clear ability?
Anyone else play Tiny Tower? For some reason this game is super addicting.
I did try it, but I found Game Dev Story much more enjoyable.

Light Flow Issues:

Per our earlier discussion on this, I emailed the dev, and after a few emails back and forth, got this helpful one from him, so thought I'd pass it along:

Hi
Well I've been using ICS with the app myself since October (Uk release date of gsm galaxy nexus) and apart from not been able to hook into clearing single notifications by swiping it seems to work well.

For the "alway on" issue. That came from a bug in the previous version of the app when upgrading some settings when it moved from having 1 flash speed for the whole app to 1 flash speed per notification.

If you go into one of the notifications, switch it to another value and back again this should reset the issue and clear it.

My be try disable "pulse notification light" in the phone settings --> display and check it on again.
Also make sure you've no outstanding notifications up when you start the app. If another app "gets in first" with a notification, then lightflow can't control it. Because lightflow raises a notification on bootup for most people this should work fine, but maybe there's another app that's starting up quicker and stealing access to the led.
Cheers

Day one alpha testing my kernel guys and I am currently at 53% at 16 hours and 31mins on the battery although I have ran into some bugs but it's working... Ish

Nevermind - i rebooted twice and after the second one its working again.

Anyone having problems with rom manager? I only use it for nandroids but it has told me twice this morning that its 'not responding'

Sigh. Still no data connectivity on my phone. :( Anyone have ideas about what I should do?

Did you actually delete the songs from the Google Music web account? I think you said you did, but I'm double-checking. That's the only way I've found to actually get rid of things in Google Music. It's nice that it imports things from iTunes automatically, but you have to actually exit the client and restart it for it to detect the changes. Have you tried that as well?

I'm sure you've already tried the following, but:

-Toggle Airplane mode on, wait a few minutes, toggle it back off.
-Battery pull

If those haven't worked, assuming they haven't...try any of these.
-Factory reset
-Restore last working nandroid backup.
-Flash a new ROM

Other than that...you could have a bad radio.

That dang rom manager program :p honestly I've always had issues with the program itself!

Can you just start making a nandroid manually ya know: reboot into recovery with power menu > scroll to backup and restore > backup

or do you also use it to name your backups?

Same here, I've always had problems with ROM Manager. On my OG, I preferred SP Recovery and just manually flash update.zip files. I do the same with the Nexus...download the zip manually and restore and flash the zip in CWM.

Actually I never even realized I could back up from recovery. :o

hah you sure can! Some people like to name their backups and rom manager makes that easier so if you like to do that you might want to stick to RM. I just create a notepad text file and put it in my clockworkmod folder. I update it each time I make a backup and refer to the string of numbers cwm makes when naming a backup so I know what backup is what.

The only thing I use ROM Manager for is to update CWM when an update is available. No disrespect meant to Mr Dutta as he is an Android pioneer imo.

Speaking of, I just updated my CWM to a modded "skipless" version 5.5.0.4 from rootz here and it's so nice to have a fully functional CWM again. The updated script has been pushed to koush I'd assume we'll see the update in rom manager fairly soon if you're gun shy in adb. I am, but it was pretty simple

Good to know. Gun shy? I wouldn't even know where to start.
