Help Razr Maxx runs hot

So love this phone. Problem is it gets real warm pretty quickly after using it. It's running on the lte exclusively. Anyone else have this problem? Battery life is good, but not as expected yet. Thanks.

My original Razr ran hot for about the first week...after that is was pretty cool to the touch...

The screen on mine gets warm but that's about it. I was on a call this morning for about 25 minutes and didn't notice it get warm. My gnex on the other hand would get hot a few mins into a call.

Did it ever get too hot to handle? Im considering trading my regular razr and cash for a maxx.

Thanks all for the replies. It seems better today compared to yesterday. Never been too hot too handle. Talked on it today for about half an hour right after streaming some video off Netflix and it wasn't warm at all! Wonder if it just has to condition the battery a bit. Battery life is better today also with similar usage. Although it does start panicking at 15% it seems. It just dropped to 5% from 15% in about 5 minutes with no usage. Battery does last 10x longer than my old DInc. You can actually use this thing without worrying about it!!

Yea, I'm noticing similar results, cooler and longer lasting as time goes by.

I guess the battery just needs to have some break in time.

I've had the phone two days and can't wait to give it back to Verizon. The screen gets too hot to touch pretty quickly. My battery is running around 125

hard to believe. you probably have a defective battery. My gf ran hers 34 hours off charger with mod-heavy use after second charge. and it seems to keep getting better(first day was just OK). It's almost hard to believe how good this battery is though. I get a full day out of my atrix with mod-heavy use and usually have about 25-35% when I go to bed. so the Maxx is def in a league of its own. I would imagine with moderate use, one will get a solid 35-40 hours off charge.

I had a full charge at 8am, just 1 one hour phone call, emails and heavy texting was enough to drop to 30% by 1pm. All GPS off, no Wi-Fi, no Bluetooth, no music and almost no surfing. I charged it to 70% and by 8pm I was in the red.

The phone gets too hot to touch after about 30 minutes of texting. Maybe the battery is faulty....just reporting my experience.

fastgurl, I think you have a defective product. You might need to return it for a replacement. I've never seen mine reach over 105 degrees.

I'm only on day five but it still gets warm after minimal usage. Very warm while charging. How do u check the temp of the phone? Called vzw and they said they wanted to troubleshoot it. Would need to leave it with them. Fml

I got my Razr Maxx on Saturday, and the first night noticed the screen got much hotter than I thought it should, but figured it to all the downloading and installing of apps I was doing. Since then, I've noticed that after only light web browsing for 10 minutes, the temperature goes from ~80 degrees to ~98 degrees. After watching Youtube videos for about 20 minutes, it gets up to ~104 degrees. Last night at one point I hit 109 degrees. I asked Verizon and Motorola support and they both said that if the problem persists, I should take advantage of the 14-day exchange policy. I hope the battery just takes some "breaking in" and I don't need to do that.

It actually heats up while its in my pocket doing nothing. I pull it out and the screen side is noticeably warm. Can't figure out what the heck would be causing it.

So I've had my Maxx for a little over a week now, and I've noticed it still gets considerably warm. It goes from 78 degrees to around 90 with about 10 minutes of light internet browsing, and then to 100 after 15 minutes of Youtube videos. After about 30 minutes of Youtube or internet browsing, it gets up to 105-107, but then cools down to 100 quickly if I stop. Can other people post their reported temperatures? I want to know if this is normal for these thin phones on 4G. I don't want to go through the process of exchanging for a new phone if it's going to just act the same.

try restarting the phone and using it. My Old incredible got hot when it was running a program or searching for service constantly

I've had the phone for 3 weeks now, and it gets pretty darn hot all the time, most noticeably when it's doing nothing in my pocket (no apps running, no b/t, no location or wifi on). The battery is not living up to it's potential. I get less than a day out of it with moderate use. I live a couple of hundred yards from a cell tower, could the constant 4g be draining my battery? The phone is rooted but I totally doubt that could cause an issue. I also don't feel like unrooting, going to a VzW store (I used to work as a tech there) and dealing with the bullshit they are going to throw at me, which I know will happen, because I used to be one of the bullshit artists they employ from Flextronics. GRRRR!!!
