Is PowerAmp still considered the best player?

Like I said before, if you get the free "Equalizer" app, you don't have to worry if your favorite music player doesn't have an EQ. It works on all sounds: ringtones, games, youtube, everything. But it also has preset detection for many players including winamp and poweramp and many others.
I think you'll need gingerbread though.

I like PlayerPro a lot but it doesn't support seamless playback. Listening to Pink Floyd with PlayerPro is not an "optimized" experience. If you mainly listen to individual songs, then it's probably not a problem.

I feel like I haven't bashed MixZing for a while, so I will again. The app itself is good enough, but I found the developer to be evasive and somewhat rude when I tried to contact him for clarification as to why his app needed certain permissions.

PowerAmp tends to monopolize headset controls is my only gripe with it. It's a very nice app overall and I'd still highly recommend it.
 
Before PowerAmp came out I had several music players on my phone, kept trying new ones, comparing, etc. After I'd had PowerAmp for a couple of days I uninstalled the rest and haven't looked at other apps since. Problem solved, as far as I'm concerned.

I was the exact same way.
 
I think PowerAmp has superior sound quality compared to Winamp in terms of the EQ. I feel that Winamp's one distorts too easily.

I *think* PlayerPro is going to support gapless/crossfade some day. And when it does I will uninstall WinAmp and Poweramp.
 
I've been checking out some of the suggestions here. Didn't like Cubed's UI that much, and PowerAmp sounded kinda muddy on earbuds and Jabra BT headset (even after playing with the EQ and other controls). I had pretty much settled on WinAmp cuz I like the sync feature, but every time I got a notification sound, it stopped rather than paused playback. I don't see any settings for this in the trial. Does the full version address this?
 
I think they're all pretty cool --tbh I think the only one I wouldnt recommend is Google Music heh.

Using PowerAmp myself at the moment (and pleased with it) but may give a few others a try too.

Just downloaded the latest PlayerPro trial to see. No dice. It tells me that I don't have any embedded artwork in the album, and goes to show me a crappy pixelized album art that looks like it has a resolution of 64x64 it pulled from somewhere. Stock Touchwiz player, MixZing, WinAmp and PowerAmp all correctly shows the crisp clear 500x500 album art I embedded. For the record I tested the same album and played the same song on all players.

Wow, that is interesting. But that's the nice thing about Android - there's lots of choices.
 
PowerAmp is worth the $5 to me for sure. The biggest advantages that it has over other players are gapless playback (I hate it SO much when a track leads into the next, but there is an audible gap between the tracks) and the excellent EQ. I have yet to find anything that has those capabilities.
