Help Best way to add contacts

After playing around with the phone for a couple days, I see how it can sync contacts with an exchange server in addition to gmail or backup assistant. I want to enter my personal contacts again rather than transferring them from my old phone (to weed through them and I dont have too many anyways where it will be difficult) and am wondering the best way to do it. I don't want them on my work's exchange server, as I am just using that for work contacts. Is my best option to do it from my gmail account (even though I don't use gmail for my mail)? That seemed pretty easy and nice that they will be backed up all the time. Or does it work the same way if I log in to Verizon backup assistant and enter them that way?

I would think that Gmail would be the easiest option, especially if you're going to be entering them from scratch anyway. There's no reason you couldn't use Gmail for contacts without using it as your email of choice.

But then maybe I'm biased, I used Gmail for my email and contacts (and calendar, etc) well before I ever owned an Android phone...

Even if you don't use gmail for anything but contact storage, it's still worth it. You can access your contacts from pretty much anywhere at any time... And you never have to worry about transferring them from Android to Android if and when you upgrade.

X2

and... yes, go to Google contacts while on your computer and work with your contact list.
You can add pics to the contact, detailed info and more

Thanks guys, that does seem like a pretty good thing. I got them all in, and I think after I am done messing wih my phone just trying out new things and everything, I will just do a factory reset and my contacts will be there from the Google account.
