Root should I root and hack hotspot

Is it a good option to root my new razr not really wanting too but my other phones are rooted and have had issues cause of custom roms.

Also would like an opinion on the hotspot hack which makes it free should i do this and can i possibly get in trouble for using it?

Have you tried the app Foxfi? Its free from the market and dont need to be rooted for it to work. Make phone into portable hotspot. I run my laptop all the time, love the download speeds.

I rooted and stuck with the stock rom, no issues with that rom at all, so no reason to dump it. The hotspot hack works really well, and I've had no issues using it yet, about 2 months. There is an app on market to allow the same for a non rooted device and I can't recall the name, someone will most likely chime in with it. They say it works well for non rooted. I'm glad I took the plunge and rooted YMMV.:cool:

I would say root the phone, do the hotspot hack and run with it. Dont want custom ROMs then don't load them. If you don't want to stay rooted just unroot after you do the hot spot hack.
 
i am rooted and what is the hotspot hack, also looking for list of stuff to remove but in the "guides" it isnt a link anymore?

i am tired so excuse the wandering mind but i want a free wireless tether and cant get one working, or did but it stopped and verizons crap keeps popping up wanting me to subscribe
 
I used sq-lite editor to tweak a setting. I think it was $3 on the market. There is a you tube vid showing how, or pm me and I'll walk you thru it. No Verizon pop up anymore. Others are using foxfi app.
