I've heard people relay this line from a sales rep time and time again. They don't know anything solid until just before release and their job is to push the current line-up. Some guy was told something like this on a Monday of the week when the Droid was released on a Friday. I've never seen someone say a rep told them to "wait".

Funny you should say that. I was just at a Verizon kiosk in COSTCO, Wayne, NJ. I asked about the N1 and Incredible. He said he couldn't say anything about phones that aren't released yet but if I've waited this long I might as well wait a little longer :D

I don't think any of these hired goons at the Verizon kiosks know any more than we do and they are probably just fed lines like "we can't comment on that but blah blah blah blah blah........"

We'll find more accurate info in this thread and other online sources unless you happen to be talking to someone at VZW much higher up the food chain with inside knowledge.

Just a little interesting bit of information. Here is a link to the HTC site with the specs on the Desire: http://www.htc.com/www/product/desire/specification.html

Looks like the same specs as the N1 with 1Ghz, 512mb/576mb rom/ram, 5MP camera, Android 2.1 with Sense, 3.7" AMOLED screen, etc.

So the good news is the Desire is probably going to be the same phone as the N1 so VZW and AT&T will be equal on that plane.

This is a take it for what you will post.

So a friend says he's talked to a guy that works for the production company that was hired to film the first verizon Iphone commercial

Hmmmm

Interesting! For those of you that care....I heard from a friend who works for one of the 3 lettered government agencies that he was told last night there would be a Verizon Ipod announcement at CTIA or the Apple developer's conference. But unless there's a way to make it LTE upgradeable, why would Apple bother?

I am going to go crazy with all these iPhone rumors. I know some of you don't like it, but having something that can play my iTunes and be a phone? I don't have an iPod right now. In fact, I don't have any MP3 player atm. My worry is does the iPhone have phone issues b/c of the network or the phone?

Me too! I'm not sure what I want!

First of all, hello to all you, been following since the Passion forum but just made an account to share a funny story with you all.

So I went into Verizon Wireless yesterday and started up a conversation with one of the employees there, a guy in his 20s. So, eventually I navigated the conversation to the N1 & incredible. At the mention of the two phones I could see his interest was peaked. I asked him if he had any idea when the phones were coming out, he told me he had no info on the incredible but the N1 would be coming out on March 23rd and it would be sold in stores.

Unlike some others I wasn't satisfied at that point. So I said to him, "Wow, you must have a good connect on the inside to let you know that kind of info." In response he told me that the info was all over the internet and he read it on a site called Boy Genius, he said I should check it out. Obviously I follow BGR and at this point I politely said thanks and good bye.

So this brought me to a funny realization. I believe this forum is actually starting to feed itself with information, it has become self-aware . For example the March 23rd nexus one date. I first saw that info on the internet mid Feb. Since then it has been regurgitated several times always with a slightly new spin, ever play the game telephone as a kid? Every week I have seen an article with the same info, and often leading back to the original source which came out mid Feb.

So basically, the Verizon Employees are reading this info on the web, they aren't always the smartest people and believe it is fact. One of us goes into a store gets the info from them, we post it in this forum, BGR picks it up off this forum, more Verizon employees read it on BGR/Engadget/Gizmodo/etc.., and regurgitate it back to us.

Conclusion: There is some good news out there, for example the research that was done in this forum to get new pics and videos. But overall I think any info directly from Verizon employees is just regurgitated information that they read on the internet. After all some of these employees are looking forward to the N1 and incredible just as much as we are. I guess the real question is if the original article which ran the March 23rd N1 release date is correct to begin with.

Recommendation: When getting news from informants see if you can get there source, make sure they didn't read it on the internet :p Also keep in mind these VZ reps are low level employees, they know at most as much as we do. If you want to get real info I would assume you would need to know someone high up at google or VZ and they would not have to mind getting sued for releasing sensitive info.

99 percent of those 85 million customers won't know if it is truly incredible or not. They will see the name and assume they are not being lied to and that it is truly amazing. If it has 256MB ram and a 5MP camera and is totally mediocre it won't matter. The marketing ploy will appeal to the masses and they will be enamored with it.

i agree. even the "motorola devour" is a tough, bad ass name, but the specs are pretty mediocre. i think people are looking into the "incredible" name a little too seriously when it comes to "this phone BETTER BE DAMN INCREDIBLE!!!1!"

From a technology standpoint it has been way too long for Verizon to not release something new. So we get the N1 on March 23rd and hopefully a dual release with the Incredible? At least those of us that are really hardcore and willing to hold out for the Incredible will see the N1 release as a good omen.

For those of you with the XV6900 and Android roms on it, why does the 2.0/2.1 software run faster than the 1.5/1.6 software if each iteration seemingly adds more features that would theoretically bog the system down more? Is the 1.5 version not stripped just less efficient?

I guess what i'm getting at is if they add more features to the higher versions and increase efficiency then aren't they technically in the same place as before? I.E. can the hardware of the Eris support the 2.1 upgrade and run the same as it does with 1.5(which isn't too bad as long as you have ATK and Spare Parts)?

For what it's worth, I've read on some forums of people who've applied the leaked Eris 2.1 update that it does run 'better'. Not sure what that means.

Otherwise they're risking it being referred to as the "not so" Incredible

I think they would refrain from using a Snapdragon CPU if the HTC Incredible wasn't high end. They also probably wouldn't make the screen 3.7 inches or AMOLED. I also doubt it would have the (supposedly) amazing camera it has and be one of the first (good multi-media players) meaning it has DivX and all that (still rumored though).

If they were gonna make it mid-end, i would expect HTC to just put specs almost the same as the HTC Legend. It's also safe to say that the HTC Legend is the successor to the HTC Eris pretty much. Considering the Eris and Hero are pretty much the same.

Idk, i just don't believe they would put the fastest CPU out there into a mid-end system, even underclocking it would be a waste of money and hardware somewhat, they would or should just put a slower/mid end CPU in the phone.

We still haven't seen final hardware for the Incredible so I'm waiting til then to start bitching about it's looks :p But I like the Red accents and back, guess it helps red is one of my favorite colors.

Nope i think the red side buttons look hot. But it would only look hot if the back was black also. Basically have a blacked out phone front and back with the red side buttons. Would look sick to me.

Just a theory here. What if they have a faster CPU up there sleeves for later this year/early next year and this really is a mid-level?

For all those who are keeping the Incredible's red backplate from considering this phone - do ya really think that a company like Seidio isn't already drooling over the chance to sell thousands of black backplates for this thing?? Hell, they're going to be all over this like white on rice!

They do have a expected faster CPU. It's like 1.5ghz but only rumored. Snapdragon is still the fastest CPU in phones currently and if the HTC Incredible is rumored to be released within months, i doubt it will be considered mid-end. Snapdragon has only just been implemented into phones like within the past months, i doubt it will become mid-end within the next couple of months. We won't be seeing something faster till the end of this year to next year and even then, it may not be implemented into phones yet, snapdragon is still high-end for this year and probably early next year.

Spec wise, I'm sure it will matchup.

I'm sure the Incredible will be "high-end" for at least 5 months.
