Can someone please tell me how should I update my phone to android 2.3.6?

I am totally noob about all this stuff so please help.
I have also been trying to the OTA update but it failed, THRICE.

Your phone has a system specific software for your carrier in Asia. Verizon pushes OTA in the USA, and your local carrier is responsible for updates for your phone. If you try to self install a Verizon OTA it might not work, and it might "brick" your phone.

Easiest route would be to contact your carrier and get them to update. Or, you could install a custom ROM or ICS that is available here or on XDA.
