Help Corporate Sync Setup - no place for Domain, Username

Hello.

Can't seem to find this one on the boards anywhere, so I will ask here.

I have a new Droid Razr Maxx and I am trying to set up the Corporate Sync to hook up with my email. I have the domain, server, username, and password. I follow the instructions from this page:

Set Up Corporate Email (Exchange Activesync) - DROID RAZR / RAZR MAXX by MOTOROLA

Step 5 says to enter the "Email address, Password, Domain, and Username". But the problem is that the screen only shows Email address and Password. I have no place to enter the Domain and Username.

I know I am in the right place because my screen looks exactly like the screenshot on the linked page.

Am I missing a setting somewhere? I looked for Sync settings (like my original Droid had) but I couldn't find them.

Oh, and yes, I have restarted the phone, just to make sure.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

James

Enter the username and password as requested. It will then take you to the next page where you can enter the rest of the information.

Thanks. I tried that, and it comes back with "Error: Login to the account failed, please try again." I know I have the right email address and password for the account. But I am figuring it doesn't know the domain, because it hasn't asked me yet.

I just tried it and also only had the username and pw fields on the initial screen. But once I entered them it came up with the next screen with a domain field included. So I can't replicate what you're seeing.

I use Enhanced Email instead of the stock app for my work Exchange account, and like it. I got it for free as the AOTD on Amazon a while back - can't remember what the normal cost is. And it doesn't make me set up a password like the stock app does. :)

OK, I am going to double-check with my IT just to make sure I have the account right. I may also change my domain password and remove a character that I have in there. It's not one that is commonly used, so that may be causing a problem in the authentication process.

That you have to get from your IT. Usually, the Username is the front half of your email address (although not always). Sometimes the Domain is the back half (before the ".com"). In my case, the domain name is different. But my username and the beginning of my email are the same. Your mileage may vary.

The Server is the actual server ("Exchange Server" if you will) that your corp uses for email. It may be something like "Webmail.<Companyname>.Com". Again, your IT Dept. will know all that.

For what it's worth I just spent 45 minutes with the Verizon Tech guy. He was baffled and was basically no help. We did a factory reset, tried one work around via "other account" and failed.

We should be seeing the additional fields: domain, etc. There's no explanation for why they are not available to us.

Now trying to see if my IT guys have the screws down too tight which is not allowing the phone to ping when it reaches out to our exchange server.

If anyone finds a work-around for this, please post.

Banging head against wall.

I believe the next move is to talk to the IT guys in charge of your server. Most likely the username/password combination for remote access is different than what you are using when you access from your Outlook account on the computer.

Having the same problem. I had no issue adding this account to my old phone (Bionic) so I do not believe its an issue with the exchange server. The phone does not want to go past the first screen where it only asks username and password. I know I need to enter the specific mail server but the razr maxx won't get past this first screen even though the email and password I am entering are correct. VERY FRUSTRATED!

OK, so I did verify all my email account info with my IT. I have the right address and password, and I changed my password today so that it wouldn't have any strange characters in it...only letters and numbers. But still, I can't get past the Email Address and Password on the Corporate Sync Setup.

So, I bit the bullet and did a hard reset of the device.

When it returned, I entered by Google account information and went right to setup the Corporate Sync. Still, no Domain or Server fields. And still, no joy with my Email address and Password. Same error.

This is frustrating.

Are there any settings anywhere which would allow those boxes to show up?

Okay, I just found a very convoluted workaround for my situation, hopefully it helps the others experiencing this.

For starters, my exchange is hosted by Microsoft, and thus my server name is not mail.mydomain.com but rather xxxxxxxxxx.outlook.com, where xxxxxxxx is a unique server key for my exchange account.

So, rather than put in my address as myname@mydomain.com, I changed it to myname@xxxxxxxx.outlook.com (which is not my email address of course) and entered my password.

This got me through to the second screen which allowed me to alter the server name details and such. On this screen, I entered/changed to:
- my domain as my real email domain (mydomain.com)
- password as is
- username as my real email address (myname@mydomain.com)
- server as xxxxxxx.outlook.com

Once I submitted that.. the account is added succesfully.

Now, the last step was to go into the acount settings and change my email address to my real one (myname@mydomain.com) rather than myname@xxxxxxxx.outlook.com

This still doesn't make a lot of sense, since I set up the exact same account 3 days ago on my Bionic without having to do this, but at least I got past it and all is working right now.

Hope it works out for anyone else with the same issue.

That was it!

I just followed the same procedure. I entered <username>@WEBMAIL.<company>.com as the email address, then entered my password. At that point, it got me to the second screen where I could enter my Doman and Server name (which was WEBMAIL.<company>.com). Everything loaded up right away.

Great catch, JSQ. I am forwarding this to our IT and we will post this on our own KB for future employees who have this situation.

I may begin to like this phone after all.

JSQ: This workaround worked...Great Job. I have had my RAZR for 4 months and I had previously set up my Corporate Sync without adding "Outlook" to the email address. When it stopped working a couple of days ago, I tried everything to re-apply the account (using the exact same settings that had worked before). I even did a Master Re-Set of the phone (kind of a pain since I now need to re-install all my apps and recover the settings from my Backup. Even the Master Reset did not solve my problem until I read your post (good timing). I don't know if Verizon just recently changed the protocol settings for the Corporate Sync or not, but your workaround solved the problem. Thanks,

Having the same issue... and the work around didn't work for my user. I need to get to the manual settings page so I can set server, username, etc. because the email address and username are different. In the past, I thought you just had to do something to get the keyboard to go away, to see the "manual settings" button.

I work at a school and had to help a staff member add their exchange account to their RAZR MAXX. The username and domain fields were missing, couldn't figure our why. We disabled the wifi, and the username and domain fields came back. Strange, huh?
