amen, the HTC Inspire (my Girlfriends current phone) has something like this. the back is one solid piece and does NOT come off but a sliver of a section on one side is removable and the battery slides out sideways, not sure why this would be such a big deal to do

It is certainly an idea.
Not to crap on your good point, but didn't a large number of people dislike the hidden door design though? Or did they just dislike the execution of it? The door was tough to remove and install, thus a more specific removal guide was made on forums like these. It is the source of the pic you shared no doubt.
Browsing the One S reviews earlier today showed that they used a similar style door around the rear facing camera. When I saw it I thought of the Inspire. Removing the door on the One S allows access to the MicroSIM slot, some hidden retaining screws, and antenna contacts.

The black vs white cases makes it harder to tell what we're seeing.
Really odd that the Sprint version has a grill in place of the holes for the speaker. Plus, I had trouble measuring an identical screen height on the two pictures of the X. Finally, this is the press picture a day early and here we have the phone without Sprint branding.
Laugh at me tomorrow if that turns out to be true, but I'm going to take the chance and call shenanigans on that picture.

ATT X, Sprint X, T-Mobile S, supposedly.
I agree. It does look like a photoshop job....especially on the top. Also the screen looks like crap compared to the others. I'll believe it when I see it.The black vs white cases makes it harder to tell what we're seeing.

i have to agree.. it does look off.. odd... feeling this is a hoax.
with htc putting so much care and time in the design of the ONEs... i dont think they would so much of the character in sprint's version.
and... I think it is ugly! sure hope it aint the sprint version!
what if... it is not Rootable...locked down tight..
only way is to use the htc website method.. which voids warranty 100%.
WOULD YOU STILL GET IT??
i would not.. if it is unrootable.. i dont want it.
LoL
The camera button speculation began on comments at various blogs. Phandroid has a set.
Other comments above.

I haven't seen a square mask for the screen since the Evo.
Still not buying into it.
PS
[Rumor Analysis] Is This Leaked "Press Photo" Sprint's HTC EVO One?
Are these guys blind? The corner curving is identical.

Thanks for this link. This is interesting. The dates on these phones have me thinking it could be a fake. Also why does the Sprint version not have a Sprint logo on it and the others do? I don't know. But it does look like an EVO. I guess we will see tomorrow.

That speaker grill is what i'm not buying. HTC state they was doing too much and plan to scale back, so why go back when those micro drill holes are a nice to your all knew design future phones.
