hey EM there is already a thread created... its just not alphabetical yet... clock on forums and its the FIRST thread under phones... any chance you have the power to move this wonderful thread over there?

Good point! But, there is an EVO One forum and an EVO 4G LTE forum listed... we should only have one to stay organized.

You know, I'd normally just go ahead and move this for us because looks like the sub-forum is created, but I'll leave it to EarlyMon to make that decision. I have the power to move, but he and Phases may have other ideas of how to move this thread.

Talk about calling the White House and the President answering the phone!

All threads moved to the HTC EVO 4G LTE forum. :)

One month redirect links for those joining a bit later - that oughta do. ;)

Yay. We have our own thread. Now, for my first impressions of the Evo LTE...

Love the specs. Great screen, great camara with dedicated shutter button, micro SD slot, and HD voice sounds intriguing.

The thin form factor looks great but I could have sacrificed a bit for a larger battery.

Initial reaction to the design and look presented in still photos was plain to ugly. But, after watching her in action in all the videos I think she looks just fine.

I've loved the phone since it was first officially announced today. Sprint target was to give us the best varation of the One X. And for that, I'm pleased.

Unlimited data + Awesome device + 4G LTE speed + One of the best network carriers = Happy camper.

Was struck by the number of references to how thin this phone is in the hands-on videos showing up tonight. Even though it's a beast of a phone spec-wise, this thing is only 0.35 thick; 0.2 less than the HTC One X, and the Galaxy Nexus.

Considering the 2000 mah battery, that's pretty amazing.

I haven't seen or heard it mentioned, but is the 25gb Dropbox collab still in effect with El TEvo even though it's not taking on the One X moniker? I hope so as its just another goody in an already bountiful goody bag

wondering if the silver band all around is integral to the hd voice capabilities, and also hoping that the time since we first saw that on the iPhone has allowed for any signal issues related to it to be negated/non existent. any one have any insight?

Ok muchachos and muchachas - what are we going to call it?? :)

The HTC EVO 4G is the Evo.
The HTC EVO Shift 4G is the Shift.
The HTC EVO 3D is the 3vo.

So, the HTC EVO 4G LTE will be called by us... ... ???

Evo LTE - who wants to type that out? Not me. :)

Evo One? Evo One X? Evo X?

Godzilla 2012? :D

I agree that the name is to long! My vote is the Evo One! :D

one of the vids (perhaps Engadget) mentioned the bluetooth in your car setup and i got the impression that he said you could via bt play music on phone and hear through car speakers. is this the transmitter stuff being referred to or something that can only be done if your car has built in bt capabilities...?

also how is the 1900 spectrum for lte??? can any of you smart people shed some light on if it's decent building penetration and all that stuff. is it a better spectrum than the one WiMAX was on?

the iPhone tried to use that band as an antenna.... ******ed

the LTEVO uses it as just a look, has nothing to do with how the phone functions at all.

Dammit covert I knew I could count on you to still be up giddy with excitement over this like I am. lol...

makes sense bout the silver lining....this thing gets better by the minute

In case anyone wasn't aware, I AM getting this phone.

Freeza! Long time no see around these parts. Good to see some familiar names popping up here again

Anyone seen a video/report where they turn off the camera shutter sound yet?
Drex had one video on the last page where the subject actually turned it up louder! It made me cringe. The sounds are not good and now that you can rapid fire/burst mode the camera it is even worse. I need the ability to mute these annoying sounds.

If anyone wondering if the "HD Voice" found on the new EVO is just a "buzzword" to sell more phones... apparently it is not.. and works well! :) It is sounding very effective and I'm glad its here!
I've seen two reviews (Engadget and Phandroid) say that it works well.

Here is a video showing its effectiveness: HTC Evo 4G LTE Hands-On Video & First Impressions
(scroll to second video down)

And here's a quick write-up from anandtech....

AnandTech - Sprint HD Voice on HTC EVO 4G LTE uses EVRC-NW over 1x-Advanced

I can't remember which video it was in, since I've been on YouTube all day, but it was mentioned that it will have 25GB Dropbox storage. So no worries there.

It is a preliminary build of probably not fully functioning software, but the Dropbox application is located in the app drawer of all the videos too. ;)

I think the Dropbox feature will be standard fare for all upcoming Android 4.0 and Sense 4.0 devices. It is one of the new offerings they are bringing across the board I believe.

I think there is only one or two icons in the app drawers that I cannot identify yet. One of them just happens to be the first application listed.

the shutter sound is controlled through the media volume.. thats how he was able to turn it up. simply turn the volume down and viola, no more shutter effect

Unfortunately it doesn't quite work like that on the Evo 3D. They revoked the ability with one of the software updates they have delivered over the year and said it was a new policy/design change going forward.

I've got an open ticket with HTC about this. Every few months I check in with them and they give me back a non-answer. I even tried to inquire about how they have handled shutter sounds in Sense 3.6/4.0, but obviously they can't tell me anything.
If you are interested read up on this thread - and search the forums here, it is happened with other phones and carriers as well:
Evo 3D | Disabling Shutter Sound?
And if you feel so inclined, contact HTC and let them know what you think.

the first app is named "Best Deals" look at the 7 minute long video and watch in 720p full screen and you can read it.

im just gonna assume that it is a sprint app, probably a "local shopper" type coupon app, could be usefull

Thanks. Sounds right on, some sort of shopping application.
My computer spews black smoke and chugs when I try to watch anything in HD.

Luckily I'm prepared. The stock mopho camera can't disable shutter sound, so I have apk for app that does it. Got it from XDA.

I do seem to recall that. It is Motorola specific though if I remember. Might come in handy if you get another Motorola handset in the future. I know you and alot of us, including me, are riding the fence firmly :D

Not to open a side bar conversation but my stance remains that we should not have to root, install any third party application, or do some work around however easy any of them may be.

Silentsnap in the Market works well also for the shutter sound.

I've said it more than once, SilentSnap is crapp.
Look at the ratings and look at the permissions (though they have improved)
I've also seen the creator's posts on the net during my research, and he came off like a dirtbag. He doesn't deserve downloads or anyone's money.
