The EVO 3D II? (Evo 3D 2?)

Pretty cool! Would you guys buy the 3D version or the regular if given the choice???

If pricing isn't drastically different, I'd go w/the 3D version.

However, I'm guessing that this was a purposely placed shot in the video to gauge public interest in 3D or to just generate more buzz for the normally aspirated EVO 4G LTE.
 
If the system specs are all the same, the display clarity is the same, and the price is the same... I would get the 3D version.

Sure it's a novelty, (and trust me, it IS a novelty) but the phone with 3D has no disadvantage over the phone without it. As long as the quality & the specifications of the device otherwise is the same, I'd take the 3D phone.

Now, if anything on the device was of a lower quality because of the 3D. I would choose the regular version.

It's not a novelty. Being able to make 3D videos is pretty awesome. That's like saying being able to shoot HD videos is a novelty.

Good point. I should have said it's a novelty, for me. I only use my 3D every 2 or 3 months. :o Even then, it's only to show the phone off. =D

Oh, watching 3D movies on the phone, yeah, that's something I never use. I guess you could say that is a novelty. But I take all of my pictures and videos in 3D, and you need the 3D viewing for that so I wouldn't really call that a novelty.

To each their own though.
 
If the specs were good as the EVO LTE, then I would definitely get it. I just like the idea of having the choice.
 
That speaks volumes to me about how the Evo3D did when compared to other non-3D HTC devices. Had the reviews been more open minded to the 3D or if it had sold very well (or at least worth the extra cost to build) then you know HTC would have kept the 3D in their future Evo's. Just my humble opinion, as my signature says.

Personally, I would prefer a higher quality camera & display to the 3D feature. I hope that's what HTC has done with the Evo 4G LTE
 
First, I am fairly certain that a 3D version would cost more.

Second, I personally would have no interest in a 3D phone. When I up graded from my HTC Hero, I had the opportunity to get an EVO 3D, but chose the regular HTC EVO 4G.

My reasons were that I personally had no use for the 3D since I do not shoot video with my phone and rarely shoot pictures. Therefore, I saw no reason to pay more for the 3D model of the EVO.

It's a novelty, or rather a gimmick. if it wasn't, it would be on every phone by now. Whether you think it's awesome or not doesn't mean it's not a novelty item. It isn't a feature people care about. It fits a very niche market, which is why it is a novelty.
 
I think the 3D didn't sell very well because the public was not educated enough about the phone. If they were told the difference between the 3D and the original, and told that 3D was just an option, it may have sold more.

This is not true. 3D is on almost every TV now, so it's definitely not a gimmick.

I think it didn't sell very well because most people that cared about it were still locked into contracts from the OG Evo.

This is true as well. I mean come on, this phone is faster, more memory, better version of sense, and more options for things like themes. And talking about being unrooted. If you are rooted, much more options.

There were many people who did not qualify for an upgrade, so they couldn't get the phone. You can go back and read the old EVO 4G threads. Sprint changed the upgrade policy. Before if you were on a certain plan you could a yearly upgrade. Then they changed it to the gold and silver status.

Either way, did you read the article? There weren't really any 3D TV's at CES at all. That shows even more that it is a gimmick. If it was a hugely popular feature manufacturers would still be using it on every TV, but they aren't because it isn't.

Not everybody, lol. I had the Evo 4G, had 4 of them in fact. When I bought the 4 Evo 3Ds, only the primary line got the new customer price. The other 3 were like $400 each with 2 year contracts.

I don't know what was or wasn't at CES, but there are 87 different 3D TVs for sale on Best Buy's website right this second. Clearly it's not a gimmick. And every new high end TV has it.
