Eris 2.1 leak Bug's and Fixes

Just an article about an update to 2.1 for the Nexus One and that it includes updates to files in system/app. Wondering if the *.apk files from that could be grabbed and attempted on the Eris ?

I would advise against that. N1 is Android OS only with no HTC Sense. N1 also has a different processor and screen.

Not sure if anyone else is having this problem, but say I go into the application Where and decide to view a business web page...... it will not let me.

Yes a "Business Web Page" some of my favorite "Business Web Pages" also won't show photos, I mean text. Hopefully my "Business Web Pages" will be back on line later...Wink Wink

Sorry but I just could not help but hit the reply button on that one...;)

hey im not sure if this was answered but, how do i get my eris to show up on my computer? I have a mac and I want to drag music/picture files from my computer to the phone, i used to be able to do it easily with my other phones, just plug it in and it pops up as a disc drive.

The only reason anyone said it needed to be plugged in had to do with the fact that anyone who tried it unplugged (not charging) couldn't get it to reset. Maybe an extended amount of time in airplane mode would do it.

Someone in a previous post mentioned they use Juicedefender to extend battery life. I downloaded and tried it on 2.1 It's got a slick interface that lets you read the app's activity. But it kept saying "ERROR: No APN found!" during it's routine network disabling process. I wonder if that has anything to do with the cell connection issues. I find that it really doesn't do much on my phone.

Edit: BTW--just tried Airplane mode w/o plugging in and it worked to correct "Time without Signal" stuck at 50% issue. It's been steadily going down while the phone sleeps since coming out of Airplane mode. I had it in Airplane mode for about a minute.

Also, on the FAQ for this app, the dev. mentions this issue:

"The mobile data (APN) connection is not restored

It might happen (quite rarely) that the mobile data connection isn't restored, say after turning the screen on. This is not caused by JuiceDefender per se, as you can verify from the log (the APN gets correctly enabled) and in your APN list.
The problem is caused by the fact that the GSM cell refuses to reactivate the APN connection. I have very little data about this, but I think it's cell-specific and probably depends on how much that cell is under heavy data usage load.

Usually when this happens, putting the phone on Airplane mode and back is a quick way to get the connection back, as your phone will have to reconnect to the GSM stack of the cell, and the cell just cannot refuse that - this is often enough to also get the APN connection back."

Sound familiar? I know our Verizon is not GSM, but it may be a similar issue.

if it was that easy im sure i could do it, but im not getting any notification when i plug it in..

try your phone on another mac/pc, see if it works

if it does

its your mac having some issue that macs have that i dont know about cause i dont use them

if it doesnt

its your phone having an issue

do you have a case on your phone?

before 2.1 it was able to do it. ive done it with my pre plus, moto droid on here too, no problems, no problems with blackberry. so idk if there is another issue or setting im missing. i have a case on it yeah, but why would that effect it?

the case area around your usb port doesnt touch the usb cable while plugged in at all does it?

i had a otterbox commuter on my phone, had the flap over the usb you had to pull back to plug in, just that tiny little force it put on the cable made it not connect.

it plugs in, the light is green on the phone, meaning its fully charged, but it doesnt give me the option to just charge, usb mode, or anything like that.

It may be. While he/she is mostly talking about the data connection, in theory it could apply to the actual phone connection too. I just see it as the fact that other than a restart, airplane mode is the only way to actually turn off and on the phones radio.

I had to restart earlier today and my 50% came back. I put the phone in airplane mode on the charger and let the phone go to sleep. I woke it back up and turned airplane mode off and everything was right as rain. So I guess it doesn't really need to be that long, but I think letting the phone sleep for a few seconds helps kick the switch over.

Here is a pretty significant bug/issue. The HTC People widget no longer works. It crashes Sense every time it tries to load it.

Possible reasons:

I had a contact that the people widget refused to display the name correctly for. It would display last, first. It was the only one to do this after upgrading to 2.1. I changed the display name to first last and it displayed it as such for a while. For some reason it reverted back. I deleted the contact and re-added the contact from my phone and since then it has crashed the Fav's app, which I love. It's possible that since I did not remove the contact from my Fav's list that it did this. However, trying to attach a different list to the widget also crashes it, so I don't think it's related.

Solutions:
Battery Pull - Doesn't work
Tried clearing all "People" data from Applications - Didn't work.
Force Stop on the People Widget - Did not work.
Clearing all data and defaults for "Sense" under applications.

I didn't find a solution, I had to go to a "clean slate" scene to remove it from my page so it wouldn't crash sense when going to that page.

Anybody else having this problem? When and if I find a solution I will post.

Mine works the same way as it did in 1.5. Even better actually. I can now set up multiple widgets with different groups for each if I want.

I would say that you are having an app conflict.

I don't have any apps that would conflict with it. Aside, it's worked fine until 30 minutes ago on 2.1 and I flashed 2.1 last week.

had mine since the day of release and still SMOOTH!
issues...well that "low ring with motion" thing worked once...not again!
ummm...im stretchin...no issues i can think of now...
i have all my apps back on (well 80% of them). OOO, this is a 1.5 issue also, but the phone dialers is PAINFULLY slow at times.
and man...you NEED a task killer with 2.1. other than that flawless :D

my coworker had this issue...the only way it wouldnt force close on that screen was to remove that widget. you have to be FAST to move it too!
like inch over...then hold the bottom or top...then pray you can get it to 'remove' before it force closes. or switch to another scene of course :)
def a pain!

Really odd that it would just come out of the blue like that.

Most everyone else is saying the exact opposite. Mine runs incredible smooth and I have obviously never touched one.

I'm assuming it has to do with removing a specific contact. It happened immediately after I did it.

ah!
good point, let me re-phrase...
I NEED a task killer app :)
advanced task manager for the win!

My apologies in advance if this has already been addressed, I searched, and searched, and...

When I hit a person from my favorites address book, I always get the "select default action" pop up, regardless of how many times I've chosen which number I want as the default.

Side note: my contact favorites remained after the 2.1 install :) yeah. (or maybe that's the problem )

EDIT: - using the people widget - probably should have mentioned that?
