Help Connecting HTC One X to car stereo via USB

I have recently aquired a HTC One X and I cannot connect it to my car stereo via the USB. It simply flashes reading but never connects. How can I get it to work?

A few thoughts...

1. Is you music stored on what would be classed as the SD partition within the phone?
2. USB indexing sometimes takes a while - especially if there is a lot of files/music - how long have you left it to read the contents?
3 - Does ticking debugging mode help?

It's not really your phone, but more a limitation of your car's stereo/ head unit. Your stereo is looking for UMS device, i.e. Flash Drive to read music from where your phone isn't a UMS device, but a USB MTP device. It won't be able to read the music from the partitions. I've tried with my Galaxy Nexus (also MTP) and all it does it charge the phone when I enable USB Debugging.

I thought the One X is mass storage, not MTP? Galaxy Nexus/Xoom are a pain, I know that...

It is, mine mounts on the PC as an external drive and mentions nothing about MTP, whereas my TF clearly states it's an MTP device; and you're right, MTP is a pain!

OP, if you head to Settings -> Connect to PC, what's your default connection type?
