An Epic Fail!!!!

So first off... I love the screen... Secondly I hate the phone... I just got it because my Evo had a meltdown and had to be admitted... So this phone's gps is useless... Is there any solution to get the gps to work? If not I guess i'll just use my evo for navigation... The epic seems to take forever to charge... Do not use your laptop to charge it... By the time it finishes charging you'd be dead and gone... and the wall charger is not any better... It took hours to charge the phone... Like 3 hours... Too long in my opinion... This phone is really a disappointment... but it is a Samsung...

Three Hours to.charge fully? What percentage did you start from...? Also, how long have you actually had the phone fully charged?

My GPS, for some reason takes an obscene amount of time to fire up.

I have to know well in advance of when I'm going to use it in order to "warm it up"

I'm grinding my own beans with this phone which promised instant coffee.

I totally understand! I downloaded this app called GPS Status & Toolbox... I think it helps... Google maps could not lock on to my home location but now its locking on to it... but as far as using telenav or google navigation I havent used them on the road yet...

But you had an evo... Soooo there you go bigger battery, longer charge time, longer talk time. Better performance. Welcome to new/old technology... & Judging by HTC's first qtr. Profit report, I think the rest of the worlds starting to agree, there more "quiet than brilliant! Zzzzz. Sprints your carrier so performance may vary. Since your evo "had to be admitted" why not grab a 3D until that redheaded Evo4gLte step child is released? Why, because you love "Galaxy S II™" dammit!

Google is your friend.
GPS - EK02 release had no GPS issues. EL29 update killed GPS.
Go to XDA developers and search for a fix.
Im on a Stock Rooted EL29 Rom/Kernel with FD02 Modem and i get good data speeds, and quick GPS lock. The EL29 modem sucked.

Charging with a computer, a windows computer gets you half the output power then charging with a wall plug.
Windows computers have 500mA coming out of their USB Ports.
THe wall charger that comes with the device is double that. 1A
So if your device is at 25% battery, and your using it and charging it, your fighting an uphill battle.
Charge it with the supplied wall charger to give you more current.

Root your phone do an ICS Custom Rom ...Since FC18 I get GPS locks in 5 seconds or so...Rooting is the way to go...

my Epic 4G Touch only takes just over 2 hours to charge, my EVO took 4 hours to charge

I havent used my GPS much so I cant comment on that

First you need to change your modem, because the latest update sucked. GPS wise, I have had little issues with locking and such, even when I was on the update modem. My battery takes about an hour and a half to charge when plugged into the wall. It will always take longer when plugged into a computer, because it is providing less power. I had an EVO, and dump it as fast as I could to get the GSII, and haven't regreted it for a second. Worlds of difference. Most people start jumping to conclusions, and don't do the research initially when switching phones. You need to do it, because no phone is the same, and every phone has upsides and downsides. Just the way it works.

I like how just about every answer to every problem posted in this forum is - root. LOL

"Root your phone bro!"

"Screen shattered, root your phone bro"

You know how pissed I would be if I bought a purportedly badass car that was incapable of going in reverse and the only way to fix that would be to switch out the entire wiring and paint the car yellow?

Must be your phone. Mine has been amazing. Ive had it since launch day and havent had 1 single problem. No LOS, the GPS works fine for me as Im on EL29. My battery charges in 2 hrs from dead. Use google, using a laptop to charge ANY phone takes ALOT longer. This is by far the best phone I have ever had. Check XDA like others have said, as this forum just isnt as active as XDA or Android Central.

I didn't even mention root. But he reason people are telling you to root is because the latest modem update is garbage and is the problem behind a lot gps/speed issues. They are giving you a way to fix it now, or you can wait for the ota ICS update. But it's a software issue not a physical phone issue most likely. Root is the most common response to problems because there are fixes from developers you can get when rooted, that you would otherwise have to wait for ota from sprint, and you know how often that happens. So again, listen to people trying to help or just wait for the ota.

I love my sgsIi. But I agree. The GPS sucks. I have to restart my phone in order to get it to work. Very annoying.

Also I have noticed a slow charge too, especially if you are using your phone. Other than that I love this phone.

Battery life is awesome. Almost twice as good as my old evo

This thing is lighter and thinner and incredibly smooth

The evo was a brick. Literally. You could use it as a weapon and chuck it at someone -- knocking then out cold. Haha

GPS is definitely software related. Upgrading the modem to one of the later leaked ones will help correct the issue. Also the area that you are in will affect how fast GPS locks as well.
