What up ya'll? New poster here. Been checkin this place out for the last couple weeks and i hope this incredible lives up to the hype!! Dont know if its big news or anything but just checked the vzw testsite and noticed when you click on the bogo droid ad it says that this promotion has expired and is no longer available.... hope this means something great is about to happen soon!!

I would suggest that as we get closer to the 23rd that we start a separate thread that just deals with "release date". No real discussion...just post your info...be it rumor or whatever....all things that deal with "when". it might help those who don't want to keep up with the 10,000 posts this will become over the next few weeks.

just a thought.....

I normally hate new threads rehashing old stuff, BUT, I really like the idea of a pure "this is what I heard today" thread

So I just spoke to a manager at a verizon store. When I asked about new android phones he said there are 3 new LG androids coming out this year. He knew htc was doing something, but didn't know what and seemed to not be sure they were switching from qualcomm to snapdragon. He THOUGHT there would be at least some in store help/availability of the N1. He didn't know about the Eris being EOL and said the only reason the BOGO for the droids was still running was because Blackberry won't stop theirs. The most interesting news(for me at least) was about LTE. He said they have been testing in Boston and Seattle and are reaching speeds up to 40gb/s! He also mentioned that internet service providers are now fighting the upgrade because it's so fast.
I believe you were both were a bit misinformed.. (him more than you, considering something like an EOL should probably be relayed to a manager)

Stevie Jobs already got his lunch handed to him once by Bill Gates and Co. when he sued MS over the Windows O.S. back in the early 90's and after getting his lip bloodied knows better not to **** with the 300 lb. Gorilla.

I am not sure that is entirely accurate....but lets not get into an apple vs pc thing here...this is about The Incredible.

40gb/s ? did you mean maybe 40mb/s

Yessir, it has been posted. Conclusion: Apple is the bully on the school yard. Android is the new kid on the block that will change that.
I think much of this will depend on Google's willingness to financially support their hardware vendors, like HTC, in the legal arena. If they don't have the stomach or financial wherewithall for long, drawn-out legal battles then Android my go the way of the Dodo Bird.

This really has nothing to do with HTC, but is Apple's way of firing a shot across the bow of Google's boat. If they're successful in their suit against HTC it could literally stop other handset mfg's dead in their tracks from even messing around with Android, thus rendering the O.S. obsolete.

I'm in favor of keeping things simple, lets keep this thread until the phone is released. At that time a million more threads will pop up overnight

Agreed, ususally a tips and tricks type of release thread will make it's way into the Incredible forum and people can hopfully focus their attention on that after the release.

THis thread wil still be around though. I don't believe you guys will let it die...

WRONG! It's about Google (Android) vs. Apple, as I just pointed out in another post, which may directly and indirectly affect the Incredible.

^ that's faster than my home internet!

As for the future, Verizon Wireless recently issued some stats from its trials of its forthcoming 4G network. If the numbers are to be believed, they are substantially faster than any existing 3G network, with peak download speeds of 40-50 Mbps (megabits per second) and peak upload speeds of 20-25 Mbps.

gb/s and Mbps a second is a HUGE difference :) but still 40-50 Mbps is blazing fast, time for them to up my FiOS connect which is only 25Mbps right now.

wow i just skimmed the last 2 pages drunk laughed a bit its only 8:10pm here and im already drunk damn dr=ink specials and all you can eat wings at bw's also should i feel sorry for the people who arent waiting for the incredible or feel jealous that they now have an android phone and i dont?

im going to pawss out now i will read this in the morning looking forward to 2 pages of reading when i wake up

I would think at 40Mbps, you are not limited by network speed, but only by the phone's processing/rendering ability and speed.

Ok so I went into my local VZW store today and asked about any new Android phones. She said there was a Motorola and HTC phone coming out this month! :D Awesome, right?

But then she informed me that the HTC phone coming out was the Nexus One. She was confident that it was coming out this month and would be sold in stores. Unfortunately, when I asked about the Incredible, she had no clue what I was talking about.

But as we all know, this is all probably completely useless.

Yes but that's still f'n fast for a phone, at that speed it could just be internet and voip
Yeah I agree it's really fast, I have Verizon Fios and my package is 25Mbps/5Mbps the fact that we'll have speeds even faster than that on a phone is insane and I can't wait :)
