Well, it is a weeklong tailgate. Free camping. Think Animal Party for six straight days. We brought a Coors Light banner with a custom message on it that would not pass muster with the spam filters here (the Alabama State troopers weren't happy with it either).:D

Oh, and the race was cool too.
 
Morning all...for those who don't know we have a saltwater fish tank hobby...so I am going this morning to see if I can add a few items from a guy who is tearing his tank down. Then this afternoon will be cincodemayoing it up with friends. Have my kids home safe and sound as of last night so I feel much better having them here.

Haha, I've heard all about it. I have friends that go every year. Crazy place. One of my best friends went the year Gordon won and everyone threw beer cans at him. He's a Johnson fan so he got out of there pretty quickly.

Yeah, that sucks when fans do crap like that. How many sporting events can you go to where you can bring your own cooler full of beer and food into the event.

Any of them if you're good at it, lol. I'm not much of a drinker and never have been, but every student at my college got to be really good at sneaking in stuff to the football games. I can't tell you how many 750ml bottles of alcohol I saw laying around after games. To top that off our tradition is ringing cowbells at the games and they've been banned in the SEC since 1976 (I think that's the right year)...yet when you walk in the stadium, somehow there were at least 20,000 or so cowbells ringing. Didn't matter how good of a job security did, they always got in. I only lost one at security in all of my years there. They were made legal again last year though...still no alcohol however.

But I get your point, not another sporting event in the US that will allow you to bring your own stuff in.

That's always a recipe for disaster. :eek:
We love going to Nats games in the summer but even if tickets are ~$20, you still end up paying a ton more for crap beer. We have a couple music venues (Wolf Trap, Merriweather Pavilion) that allow you to bring food (WT allows beer) so that's pretty cool.

So I'm looking for a new avitar, anyone have an idea?

Actually, it isn't. I makes the event far more enjoyable. Throw a few bottles of water, a few beers, some sammiches and snacks. Event ticket and souveniers are all it costs.

I wish I could see the Red Sox for $20. The last game I was lucky and got tickets at face value ($75) and had a lovely seat pointed directly at the visiting bullpen. Home plate was about a 90 degree turn to my left. They call those seats chiropractor specials.:rolleyes:
 
Alright, got the new avi up. That's the Margarita pie we made the other day for one of the owners. I didn't personally make the pizza, but I at least made it was photo worthy and put the basil on top! He loves to come by occasionally, order lunch (and usually a few beers), and post some pics on Twitter.

Couple years ago we saw the pre-season opener of the Sox and Nats. Still got the $4 nose bleed tickets though (have to purchase those game day). Was a packed stadium with FAR more Sox fans than Nats :rolleyes:.
But that's usually how it is with a lot of games. When the Phillies come, don't even bother wearing a Nats jersey, you'll be far outnumbered. :p
