Let me share a little tip with y'all that helps me to stay up with the thread. First, instead of clicking the thread title from the forum index, click that little blue down arrow at the beginning of the thread title:

That will take you to the first post in the thread since the last time you opened it. From there, it's usually safe to scroll pretty rapidly through the thread until you see lots of "thanks" below an individual post. That's where the juicy info can be found. With this method I've been able to keep up with the thread without going crazy or wasting lots of time. Hope that helps.

Thanks. Yes, it does help... but not when every computer your working on has the same forum listing and you keep refreshing them over and over and over, not remembering what you have read or havent read and all you want is to get rid of your current phone and get this phone and you havent got any work done in days and you havent taken a breath in hours.......

Im lightheaded....

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I find it ironic how there has not been "boo" said by any of the major U.S. carriers regarding the announcement of a single new HTC Android phone since Apple filed its lawsuit.

I don't find this the least bit coincidental and am wondering if all new HTC Android phones have been put "on hold" for the foreseeable future by the big four until they have assurance from HTC that the devices are safe to sell and that they will not be held liable for damages by Apple?

As a V.P. for a consumer products company we are required by most large retailers we do business with to indemnify and hold them harmless in the event a product we sell them violates a commercial copyright or patent. Retailers are deathly ill of being dragged into messy lawsuits and will go to great lengths to avoid them like the plague, rather than do business with a company that is embroiled in one.

If no new news regarding the release of the Desire, Incredible or SuperSonic in the U.S. is made at CTIA I'll be convinced Apple's put the kaibosh on all of these phones and those HTC may have in the early development stages for the Android platform as well. What would everyone do then if that's the case? I don't mean to rain on everyone's parade, but it's something everyone should be taking into serious consideration.

The Moto Devour (gay as it is) is an Android phone....

I hope you have a lot of time to dedicate to maintaining these proposed threads. I admire your goals, but in my experience, forums that try to rigidly organize like that fall out of favor quickly due to the administrative burden and rebellion/just-not-giving-a-damn by the users.

We'll obviously need SOME kind of organization, but if we rely on one person to handle it all, he's going to get burned out. I'm in favor of setting up a series of posts and/or subforums for the aforementioned topics and then just learn to live with a certain amount of off topic banter and crosstalk.

You're absolutely right, and to reiterate one more time, this isn't about adding any restrictions or changing anyone's ability to post what they want when they want, just a few dedicated and maintained threads among all the noise. I also completely agree with you that one person will get burned out so i'm more than willing to have a group of people vs. one, but it does have to start with at least one! (side note: one other person has already volunteered to take on some of the work)

Comeon. Haven't we all learned by now these guys know nothing and will say anything. Go in tomorrow and I bet he gives you yet a different date.

I know. I know. I just wanted to see if I could get any confirmation on apang's info. Until we get a press release its all just speculation.

That lawsuit got thrown out.. there is no threat to HTC at this point. We have hints all over our internal websites that we are getting the n1. Just a matter of days before the they announce it. I hope your wrong. I am really looking forward to the 23rd.

Huh!? Where did you read the lawsuit got thrown out? Links, please as that would be a HUGE victory for HTC and those here waiting for the phones I mentioned previously to be released.

talk about a downer...lol

This is an incredibly difficult thread to keep up with....

It really depends on your definition of "keeping up"...

If you define it as staying on top of the latest big news, that's as easy as checking the first post and scanning for changes. I've even included a time stamp for last update.

If, however, you define it as "what all has everyone said since the last time i caught up on all posts" then i'm afraid there is only one way to do that...and we all do the same thing. Consider how long it would take to do this if all the thoughts and ideas were also scattered among dozens of different threads. At least here "Search this thread" is a very good friend.

As other's have suggested there are some tips and tricks like using the little arrow to jump to the last spot to read up to or quickly paging down until you see a couple of "Thanks!" under a post (probably worth stopping and reading).

Hope that helps...

there really hasnt been any HTC phone to come out. All the phones that have been coming out lately were announced way prior to apples lawsuit. HTC never officially announced the Incredible or the Supersonic. They did announce the desire and the Legend, but as of right now they are only European phones, so there is no way to prove that Apple is holding HTC's products.

Hmm about the 17th date which is St. Patrick's Day didn't Devdroid? post a all green Android pic with it wearing a hat and a four leafed clover? saying something about St. Patrick's Day.

BTW, I also find it peculiar that HTC has not announced any plans regarding HTC Android phones for the U.S. market since the Apple lawsuit filing, nor did the mention any of them coming here at MWC. Those they did announce, the Desire, Legend and Mini HD were all for Europe.

Isn't this the same company who's president, John Chou, last fall talked about the Passion coming to Verizon as early as December (which is what got me hooked)? Now we've come to find out that Apple's legal counsel sent HTC nastygrams as far back as Dec. '09 or Jan. '10 requesting that they not release certain (Androoid) phones. Since then there hasn't been didly from HTC regarding new Android phones being released in the U.S. And because the N1 is not being marketed under the HTC brand, but Google instead, it is absolved from the lawsuit.

I'm becoming more convinced that if there's any BIG news to come from VZW at CTIA it may have more to do with the iPHone coming its network this summer rather than a new "incredible" HTC Android device. The next 8 days can't pass fast enough as far as I'm concerned.

Ah when did the lawsuit get thrown out? Assuming you mean the HTC apple one.

There is a big difference in a lawsuit being "thrown out" and someone's opinion on a blog calling it a bluff. As long as HTC has to shell out legal money defending, responding to or countersuing the case is not "thrown out".

As correct as Joe Wilcox may be calling this competition by litigation, it's far from over until a) a court throws it out b) Apple drops it or c) HTC settles.

Dude, this is just some bloggers opinion on what he sees as a frivolous lawsuit. The courts haven't thrown the lawsuit out. Get real!

So yea the lawsuit is still in effect, but as it says in the article, apple sued Microsoft in the 90's. Im pretty sure Microsoft didnt have to hold their products.

I'm speculating here just like 95% of the posts in this forum and happen to find a lot of irony in what I see taking and not taking place given what occurs in my own industry when patent lawsuits are involved.

If Big Red comes out at CTIA and announces that the Incredible will be here in May we'll all be screaming from the rooftops. If no news is forthcoming we'll all be screaming for someone's head - more than likely Steve Jobs. That is unless the iPhone is announced to be coming to VZW. Then I may have second thoughts. ;-)
