Root Did anyone install the update that was pushed today?

Ok, I rooted my phone using the excellent one click instructions (root&recovery bat), so, the update comes over and I have been "reminding later" since this morning.

Should I accept it with my device rooted?

Truthfully, the only reason i rooted wast to get rid of the bloatware. If I go back to the bat and reroot, will the bloatware come back? (i only froze it with bloatfreezer). I don't have the skill set or desire to get into the guts of this phone as much as others. I just don't want crap like "blockbuster" running.

Should I reroot and then install the update?

I was rooted on v4 and un-rooted to take the v6 update. It turned out for me that I had removed so many pieces of bloat that the update wouldn't take.

I had to re-root and install the stock v4 ROM. Then I took the v6 update and all went well. But I did notice after 24 hours that my battery usage was too high again, so I re-rooted v6 and removed even more bloat this time.

Now I'm just waiting on a version of Broken Out that is based on the v6 update.
 
What I should have asked was, should I UNROOT my phone then do the update (I said "reroot" the first time).

Sounds like (thanks to liteon163) UNROOTING and going all the way back to stock is the only way this update will install. Then it can be rooted once the update is done.

My next question is, is there any obvious advantage to doing the update? I mean, it's not 4.0, right?

no real reason to update in my opinion. And no it's not 4.0

The wait continues. Be sure you will see massive traffic on this forum when 4.0 comes out. it will now be an update that gets released without a lot of noise being made.
 
You can take the update rooted as long as your on stock recovery and havent removed any system files. You may have to unfreeze the bloatcrap, not 100% though. The update will kill root, but you can use the all in one package to reroot. Then you can refreeze all the bloat. A lot of people have said the v6 update runs smoother and quicker than v4.

This.

That's exactly what I did and didn't have any problems. Unfreeze everything (reboot suggested), run the update, and re-root with the all-in-one. It does seem to run smoother than V4, after a few reboots.

Thanks for the great info! I'd have a bricked-ish phone if it wasn't for this site. The update sent my phone into the dreaded ClockworkMod loop. Everything is up and running fine, but I have a problem.

This is my first real smart phone (not really counting my Vortex) and when I rooted it, I uninstalled all of the bloatware I could find with gusto. Now I'm realizing I probably should have just frozen it.

Would anyone be able to advise me what I need to do to get my phone back to be able to receive updates? Do I need to find and install all of the system bloatware I uninstalled?

Any help anyone could give would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!!
