Swype avail for Eris

I have the smallest size file and also other swype versions. i'll have to post them all up later one of them should work.

i had the same "swype is not for this phone, limited capabilities" etc on my phone after a reboot today.

just follow the instructions in the first post, worked perfect, took about 2 minutes.

Just had my bro put swype on my phone yesterday and all I can say is wowza this keyboard is freaking awesome. Right now all i wanna do is just type stuff

I can't type I.

It almost always comes out as "ki"
or sometimes "jimi"

I can type everything else, so I don't think it is my technique.

Anyone else notice this issue?

Just tap the I key. If you do that and immediately start swyping your next word, Swype will understand what you want, and automatically give you a capitalized I followed by a space.

Almost. It does that only when it is auto capitalizing at the beginning of a sentence. Otherwise, in mid-sentence, I get a lowercase i.

It auto-capitalizes in mid-sentence for me using that technique ... so the behavior must vary depending on which version of the beta you have installed. (I'm using the "Lite" version of 1.16.)

I did a factory reset because of some problem apps and now Swype will not start again. It installs at the SD card, but I can not get it to come up on any keyboard.

Anyone had this before?

I have the beta from the Swype website. Using it now and I just-- woah! It works! I don't believe it. Ah well, i was wrong.
well, no it didn't capitalize that time. Okay testing I see now, I see now I give up.

Am new here, sent here by The Google's wisdom after seeing a video of Swype YouTube - A swype demo in use and asking The Google where I could find me a copy. It has led me to you, and because of that safety in numbers I may just friggin survive... Dealing with that lame little native keyboard, Sense or not, has been an effort in frustration, maybe the worst aspect of the Ares. I haven't even opened Swype yet but thanks to you guys now I can. You people rock!

Now if I can just find a good speech to text app and something outstanding that wraps around Google Voice.

hey, i have a HTC droid eris for verizon and i really want to download swype. I tried downloading the link but i am having trouble getting it onto my phone and being able to use it. Can someone help me out please?

Read the first post. All directions are there. Have you tried that already? If so, where are you getting stuck at?

I had no problem installing swype or using it, even in Handcent as a keypad.

When using the base keyboard in Handcent you could hit menu and the voice command would pop up and you could speak your text into the device.

Now when using Handcent, nothing pops up when you hit menu. In other words the voice feature in Handcent is no longer available. I just wanted to know if that was correct, or if I was missing something..

I am loving Swype, and if the voice part is no longer available then that is fine, as it wasn't very accurate for my speech patterns anyways.

It's weird that nothing pops up when you hit menu. The Handcent menu and its "speak" option are working fine for me with the Swype keyboard.

Loaded up the lite version...woot. I WILL be buying it when its fully released. Too bad it doesn't play well with list master...small issue that i can live with.

Just put it anywhere on your SD card, and then use a file manager program on the phone to locate the file. Click on it, and it should install.

I saw all the reviews about how great swype was..but I didnt go looking for it untilI saw that Samsung commercial...searched and installed the right version for Eris and all I can say is WOW...I want to text all day long now

I have been annoying my friends today because I have been texting for the simple purpose of using Swype. This is an amazing program and I will definitely be purchasing this when it comes out of Beta.

Love, love and also love.
