Options/opinions on where to purchase the EVO 4G LTE

First part yes. Second part no. Second part - You order online and you will receive code via email after activation. You won't receive a gift card at all. That's the terms. Now if you can work something out with them when you pick it up at the store, is a different story.

I think we were saying the same thing but I may have just worded it funky.

Bottom line, if I want to pre-order Evo LTE's from Best Buy my best bet will be to go into the store today and pre-order to get the $50 gift card (I assume this will be gone once they are available tomorrow, effectively canceling the 'pre-order') and then go back in tomorrow to pick them up and apply the $50 gift card to each phone making them $150 plus tax. Sound about right to you?

I will pay about $14 tax on each phone (since you pay tax on the $199 price and not the $149 price that you pay after GC) so I would much rather place my pre-order from Amazon.com but they still don't show it as available so I'm alright with paying $14 per phone to have them in my hand tomorrow rather than waiting until sometime next week.

The BB $50 gift card is not associated with pre-order. You should get it as long as you purchase prior to July 7th (when this promo expires).

Ohhh... I see. So if I don't go in to pre-order today and instead just go into the store tomorrow to buy them I will still get the $50 GC that I can use on the phones themselves, right? Saves me a trip into BB since I would just be going in tomorrow to pick it up. Unless for some reason they called me back tonight or let me take them today since they let others pick up their pre-orders early then that would be worth it. I doubt that would happen anyway though.

Yeah, I just called a few best buys and they all thought the $50 card was pre-order only so probably best to ignore that press release. But I'm also not confident any of them knew what they were talking about so we'll see.

You are confusing things, lol. The $50 is for preordering the EVLte. Just go to the website and search for the phone.

Yeah I would definitely "pre order" if able given the various literature referencing it.

Is everyone being charge activation fees regardless of where they are purchased? Has anyone been able to get the fee waived? If I get the phone I'm going to use the BOA add it up and get the $50 cash back through Wirefly @ $149 with no tax. That takes the phone down to $100, but that buggy upgrade/activation fee is looming on wirefly.

I bought online directly from Sprint, when I placed my pre-order on May 15th there was no activation fee added so I thought there was a promotion going on - but now one showed up on my account. I called 2 nights ago and was only able to get them to reduce it by $15 "since I've been with them for so long" (which I have.... but still.... :( )

I still need to call back. Was told by top tier support 3 weeks ago they were putting notes in my account so when I call back they will credit the 4 activation fees. He had even called back the next day to let me know my early upgrade / few had processed and the notes were still in there to reverse fees.

Will post results.

Anyone else experience this in Cal. I preordered at BB. Tax was predicated on a $699. Srp effectively washing the gift card.

I just ordered from amazon wireless. $150, no tax (would have been $56), free shipping and I don't have to go through the trouble of the bby gift card or trade in my og evo (good insurance, i think) so I'm happy with that. The only issue is that they are on back order for a week so I'll get mine around the 11th. Not too bad and no hassle.

I finally took the plunge with wirefly add it up. Can't really beat getting the phone for $99 with no tax. Their site says 2-3 weeks before it gets shipped, but that gives me time to find a store with a demo and to cancel the order if needed. I don't think I'll have to cancel though.

I did Best Buy with the $50 gift card. They carried it over from the preorder to anyone purchasing and activating by 7/7. It's not a mail in gift card if you purchase in store. They apply it the moment of your purchase. I essentially got a new Otterbox Defender case, versus getting at the Sprint store which I was going to do at first.
