Help Google Navigation Not Saying Street Names

Darekd, this update fixed it for you? I had uninstalled previous updates to get my street names back, but tried the update yesterday and no street names again.
 
Word is that Google navigation says the street names on 4.04...anyone able to confirm that got the official 4.04 update?
 
There is a google thread on this where Google indicated that they found the issue but the fix was to update to 4.0.4. I went back to Maps 6.5 until I get my 4.0.4 update.

I received the OTA 4.0.4 tonight, its still not speaking street names.

I haven't been on the road with it but after my first attempt standing in my driveway, the second attempt was saying street names.

If it doesn't work, we can uninstall the updates and install Maps 6.5 and wait for a fix.
 
I just received the 4.0.4 OTA update. The first thing I did was check G Nav. Street names are active again for me. :D

I have no root or mods. I do use SVOX.

Hmm I just tried mine and its still not saying street names. I am rooted, wonder if that's whats causing the issue.
 
Just updated Google Maps. Indeed Navigation does work correctly once again. :thumbup: Not only are street names working, but much to my surprise the name of my street is now being pronounced correctly. Completely stock device.

Damn mine is still just saying head west then turn right... No street names at all.

EDIT: AH HA I just cleared the cache, street names are now back!!!

Yay!! Now that it's working, can someone tell me how to use SVOX? Are there just different apps that you d/l from Market? I'd like a nice British lady as long as it still gave imperial measurements. And then once you have it, how do you activate it for Google Maps? Or do you activate it system-wide?

The process is kind of a pain. I don't remember exactly but it's something like this:
Install SVOX
Install the voice you want. Either from the market or from the SVOX app which just sends you to the market
The from SVOX, you select that voice so that it does the actual download of the voice you just installed. (Because redundancy is always fun)
Then from android settings in the TTS area, activate SVOX, choose that voice, etc.

Something like that.
I also had to go into SVOX itself and turn the voice volume to like 200%.
