front facing camera...

and btw, if you turn out to be "newsradio862"s "new" profile ill hunt you down and kill you, just a fare warning.. if not welcome friend :)
on this note, (lol i can totally understand your point of view and i totally agree with billmeds' response, but just want to add, that I do not want a repeat of what happened in another forum where the thread got out of hand with a member posting information that got the rest all riled up for no reason only to bail out at the last minute. It resulted in deleting countless posts. it won't help the members and certainly will clutter up the thread with un-needed posting. Hopefully that won't be the case here.

I've suggested to billsmed to make, edit or merge these threads to make an official supersonic thread, once he decides i will sticky the thread.

As for this comment...
I don't see the benefit of HDMI out on a phone, can some one enlighten me?
Something tells me having a hdmi or mini-hdmi port on the phone would probably help it hook it up to a tv/monitor like a projector. But maybe thats me wishful thinking. :D

btw, I too have a Sprint Hero and have no complaints with it, its the best phone I ever had, but the Supersonic will be the phone it will replace once it comes out.

Eventually I will replace the Supersonic with the (full keyboard/world phone, 4G) Voyager, which would be the update to the Supersonic in 2011. **

TS out

**This is my pure speculation/opnion and not fact.

I thought maybe streaming movies to your TV from online, but there are much better options like a networked media tank, HTPC, or DVR. Then what if you need to take a phone call or answer a text? Get up and go look at your phone?

Then I thought maybe just to quickly look at your 720p videos w/ family. But it'd be much more streamlined to upload to youtube and then share. Plus you would think Google would want to incorporate a streamlined youtube upload since they own youtube of course and youtube does HD video.

Can't think of anything else.

Welcome to the Supersonic forum, senormatt and thank you for your input. When I was thinking HDMI, I was thinking of something different than YouTube. I'd love to be able to plug the phone into my DVD recorder through the HDMI port to record the movie on disk.

I don't think Google or HTC have any interest in anything having to do with physical media. Everything in the "cloud" is the idea.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Edit:
Not sure why the Supersonic has so many less fans than the Incredible. Is it something with Verizon vs. Sprint users? The biggest Incredible thread has 9,400 replies to the Supersonic's 131.

Need some Supersonic love in here... man can't wait to see how everything plays out next week.

I googled HDMI on phones and found this recent article:

The HDMI Consortium is about to announce a mini HDMI connector for the Apple iPhone which allow the iPhoner to run full HD content from the Apple iPhone to a screen by mini HDMI cable. The next step would be to take HDMI to the Apple iPhone and iPods in the form of a mini HDMI cable which means delivering high quality audio and video content to a screen.

That doesn't mean the Supersonic should have this feature, I'm just saying it might.

I agree twospirits. I've seen something similar happen on Crackberry and things got pretty...tense. I am hoping for an 8 MP camera and front facing camera but I'm not getting my hopes up too much just in case. We'll know for sure next week (I can't believe I'm saying that, it always seemed like the Supersonic was such a distant commodity).

VZW has a bigger customer base and know how to generate hype through their marketing. They're a fine company but Sprint is equally good in my opinion and must more affordable which seals the deal for me. We'll be getting more activity here soon ;) the calm before the storm.

Might be the first time in my whole life I'll ever say this:

I WISH THIS WEEKEND GOES BY FAST! I CAN'T WAIT TILL NEXT WEEK!!

Yeah I'll never say that again in any other context :)

I see your point and yeah it's pretty hard to think of any other reason for the HDMI out, BUT (speculation) since this is a WIMAX capable phone, I would imagine it being able to broadcast a live video chat to a whole room? Don't laugh...just imagining

Haha... well, you got a laugh out of me, Cary. Thanks and have a good weekend. Hope you don't lose too much sleep. :D

It's bittersweet for me...Sprint finally announces the SS next week but my spring break is also over :( hopefully the SS will be enough to cheer me up haha.

Yea, hopefully the thing with Wal-Mart works out, where Wal-Mart stores host the WiMax stuff on top of their stores. We have... 2 stores near where I live, then 2 down town.

We won't know for sure until the Supersonic is released which will be better, but chances are, no matter what forum you go into around here, most will probably favor the Supersonic.

Edit: Both the Nexus One and the Supersonic are going to be released on the Sprint network sometime this spring or summer.

Right now, we're waiting for the CTIA Wireless Association conference which is going to be held in Las Vegas next week. Dan Hesse of Sprint is one of the keynote speakers and we're expecting him to talk about the Supersonic at that conference.

For me it will come down to how Sprint will charge for WiMAX service. If WiMAX will be part of "Everything Data Plan", I'd definitely go for SS (and then just wait for WiMAX to be rolled out in NYC). If there is any additional charge for WiMAX, I will stick with N1.

I noticed that stleber - post# 47 (the guy that posted this picture) never came back into the forum after posting it. That got me to wondering, so I looked at his profile. As it turns out, he registered, made this post and that was it.

I've seen a lot of reviews on the Internet about the Supersonic, but never saw this picture before. When I look at it, I don't think it's a fake picture. I think it's the real thing. Do you think stleber came in here just to throw us a bone? We may never know, but it certainly looks real to me.

Edit: Stleber, if this picture is real, I want to thank you for it.

$199~~~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Juan time sprint!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really don't think Sprint will have higher data charges for the Supersonic. Do you have the N1 now? If you're thinking about getting it instead of the Supersonic, you'll have to buy it through Google's website. I haven't heard any complaints about their customer service lately, but you won't be able to walk into the store to have it serviced like you can with a Sprint phone. Something to think about.

This whole thing about 2G, 3G, 4G. There's never been extra charges when you step from one to the other that I know of.

Its a computer generated render obviously, but its 100% real as in thats what it actually looks like.

No, I don't have N1. I was a long-time AT&T customer and recently ported all my 5 lines to Sprint after reading your posts on WiMAX and SS. :o Surely enough, 2 weeks after I did that, Google announced AT&T 3G N1!!!

So, yeah, I hope you are correct regarding the WiMAX pricing. ;) Can't wait until next Tuesday!!!

@phatning

Yeah, I can hardly wait either and oh how I hope the rumors about the phone being released soon are correct.

I didn't think anyone was reading my WiMAX/Supersonic posts. Boy, are you ever going to be upset with me if I'm wrong about everything, but I hope you'll end up thinking is was the best move you ever made.

Have a good weekend

I know this phone is better than the HD2 hardware wise, but damn I just LOVE the sense 2.5 UI on the HD2. The way everything has huge buttons and you can just slide your finger across the bottom to get quick access. I love how the picture album is set up, and the animated weather on the homescreen. It makes android look boring as hell in comparison :( I wish it were possible to use this interface on the supersonic

Bill,

I will let you know next Tuesday. ;)

Have a good one!

I was enthralled with this phone for awhile, mostly because of the big screen and 1GHz Snapdragon, but I'm certain people are going to like the Supersonic a lot better than the HD2. Let's wait to see the demonstrations next week before we decide.

If you really want to see the new Sense UI in action, look for HTC Desire videos on YouTube. I think you'll be impressed with it.

I agree - I wouldn't be too surprised if that is exactly it.

Will do, thanks. Another huge issue im having with switching from my iphone (which I cant stand currently) is the lack of medical apps. Its ridiculous. Im a third year medical student and there are a good 8-10 apps that I NEED to have. The appstore has probably >1000 medical or health related apps, and from browsing my friends androidmarket on his droid, it was embarassing how few there were.

some examples:
epocrates
medscape
medical eponyms
MIM
Medical Calc
Frank netters anatomy flashcards (this one is very very important)

I've been looking for videos of the HTC Desire which was announced last month at MWC. The Desire has Android 2.1, 1GHz Snapdragon and a 3.7" AMOLED screen with the latest version of Sense.

I'm only showing this, because it's very close to what the Supersonic will look like. I've seen better videos which I might post later, if I can find them again.

I think you have to pay for most of the good medical apps, but that's an area where we should be seeing more.

can that hideous rainbow colored background be changed? :D

ps: you're right, this interface is pretty nice as well

Oh sure. That is one of the moving backgrounds, but you can also use static pictures. Since you can't please everyone, it's nice that you can customize the phone.
