Battery life indicator and lock screen for ICS

dpcole72

Newbie
I found and got the battery percentage indicator to show up on the top left corner, but ICS loves to round the lifespan to the closest 10%. Meaning "73%" shows up as "70%", "57%" shows up as "50%", etc.

It's probably a setting I'm overlooking, but is there a setting that will show the proper value and not some rounded version?

Oh, and can the new lock feature where one can send a text message or use the phone while it's locked be disabled? The concept defeats the purpose of security, and more importantly the bugs in this system bypass one's unlock PIN, passcode, face, etc...

Thanks!

That's how moto decided to do it, however there is an app called "circle battery widget" that will do what you are looking for!

Under Menu/Settings/Security put a checkmark in the box that says "power button instantly locks." Assuming you have some kind of security in place it will mostly disable the drag to unlock screen. You can also find the setting there to change the time-out feature to auto-lock the phone.

The battery app has the workaround and now I get proper readings...

Sadly, my phone already is checked "Power button instantly locks". And Timeout is set to "1 minute after sleep". I'll keep fiddling...

I did password-protect my SIM, but that has no effect apart from a power-up...

Follow-up:

When unplugged from the computer and after that minute, the proper PIN entry comes up and it seems to be consistent. I still can't fully fathom where the key icon appears that bypasses the security features, but if I find something anomalous I will be sure to ask... especially if there actually is a security bug! :) (Right now, it's probably something I'm overlooking as the proper passcode screen is coming up consistently...)

What concern do you have with the phone options on the lock screen? With the emergency call button, you can only call emergency numbers (try it!). With the emergency contact button, you can only call individuals listed as emergency contacts in the "People" app. I'm not sure what the security implications are here . . . But I would think the assurance that someone could quickly reach one of your designated contacts in the event of an emergency would outweigh most of them.

Now that you've go 'proper' reading, I believe you'll find that the original battery percent rounds just like we learned in grade school - 'up from 5, down from 4'.
95% and up = 'Fully Charged/100%'.
85 to 94% = 90%
75 to 84% = 80%
etc.
