How To: ICS Stock Upgrade Without OTA

Worked perfectly. I appreciate your rather detailed explanation. I skipped step 16, and paid for it until I did it.

Too many folks "assume" everybody "knows" all the steps--like how to get into fastboot mode--it is nice to have an overly complete set of instructions that just work.

So this is the official version? I don't want to end up off the path or anything, I'm just tired of waiting.

Also, if I wanted later, could I install the official ota?

I think I'll just wait a few more days at this point. I k now some of the leaked versions have left people with some pretty messed up phones.

only 27 steps! lol
Thanks for the step by step though!

Yeah too many steps. I'll be waiting patiently for my ice cream sammich!

Yep, 27 steps seems like a lot, but this is the best set of instructions I've seen yet - and I read the entire thread for the utility/upgrade. And since some of the steps are 'download the things you know you need', I'm don't know that you can count that 'against' it.

It's better to be more complete, than just assume that everyone 'knows'.
For instance unzip the utility, but not the upgrade itself. I've been around long enough to know that, but others might not. And Step 16 for instance, is buried somewhere around page 23 of the original thread, and is mentioned more as a casual aside, rather than something that must be done if you want it to work right. (*I* didn't do the 'Google setup' part, and it worked fine - YMMV).

Thanks OP, wish this would have been around BEFORE I did the upgrade, it would have save me lots of reading. :)

Just installed it. Works just like the op said. Only glitch I have found so far is wifi will not always turn on or off.

Is anyone having trouble with Motocast? Mine won't get past "contacting the server".

I had this problem too. Make sure you install the drivers for your system that came with the utility pack you downloaded.

Edit: you may not be talking about the ICS install. That is what I'm referring to.

I was talking about after ICS install, and doing the wireless connection for motocast, it won't connect. The USB connection works fine.

is this the identical version as the OTA update?
I want to remain 100% stock. If I do this update will I be identical to if i were to have waited for the OTA update?

I too am curious? Can I just download the update, and install from SD card in stock recovery? I know we were always able to do this in the past without rooting, boot-strapping, etc.

This is the exact reason I didnt jump in head first. More steps involved than in the past makes it seem like this isnt just completely stock OTA.
