Android 4.1 Jelly bean

So android 4.1 has been officially announced. As the HOX is a brand new device with a top spec processor, do you think HTC will be giving us the upgrade?

Might be a bit of a wait but I'm pretty sure we'll get it, looking at the release schedule for ICS updates on older HTC devices this can take a while, some up to a year.

Yes - we will get it, and probably the next one (key lime?) as well.

There is the S3 out there now though. Bet HTC would love to ship the OTA to unbranded (i.e. me :) ) before Samsung. Would be a feather in their cap/ PR coup for their flagship device.

That is just me being optimistic. It is going to be a few months at the very earliest.

The nexus is the easiest phone to put it on though as it doesn't have anything like sense or touchwiz to have to integrate with, it's just android. I'm hoping with the One X being the flagship phone they will concentrate on getting this to us as a priority :D

I'm hoping it won't be as long as some devices were waiting for ICS, the jump in tech from GB-> ICS was massive (it's one of the reasons why the Cyanogen guys have taken so long with CM9). I'm guessing (and it's a big guess) that 4.0.x -> 4.1 isn't that big.

Holy c**p that was fast. SDK port of 4.1 is booting over on xda.
This isn't stable, and not for daily use but it has to be a good sign!

I'm not so sure about that, if you look at what they've done with the notifications those are huge changes, the NFC stuff looks like it's been built from the ground up too but I'm hoping with the One X being the flagship and the obvious competition from the Korean guys they'll already be working on it.. ICS is great but they've basically said they aren't happy with it, makes me think JB will be something special.

i hope jellybean will be out soon for our beloved phone. can't wait to feel the buttersmooth experience google is talking about

have to say not holding my breath but i am hoping to be proved wrong... JB looks like its going to be a corker

So that is the same guy ported two different versions up to a bootable state since last night with the first version up at 5.30am? Must be part android himself and not need sleep :)

Also remember that we are not only dealing with HTC timelines but the carriers as well. I am on Rogers in Canada and they will have to have their input so they can load all their crap as well. This will add to the timeline.

Hmmm. Not really much to go on there. Would be a nice surprise if it is in the near future though.
I think Google did let manufacturers early access to jb though- so maybe it isn't that far fetched?
